If You’re Toting a Mountain of Drugs With You, You Probably Shouldn’t Hand an Officer a Blunt When He Pulls You Over

We all know common sense isn’t too common these days. You never really like to read these types of stories, but considering that we’re hard-hitting journalists here, we have to report the news. And, maybe we can do our part to teach people from stories like these and make common sense a little more common.

Aw, hell – who am I kidding? You guys know I love reading about people actin’ ratchet!

Credit to CBS Baltimore:

A 25-year-old woman faces several drug charges after police say she handed a detective a partially smoked “blunt” while getting out of a vehicle during a traffic stop.

The traffic stop occurred at 10:10 p.m. Monday, when an Anne Arundel County Police Department detective stopped a vehicle on southbound Ritchie Hwy, at I-695.

The detective pulled the vehicle over after noticing the driver failed to yield right-of-way to another vehicle.

After speaking with the driver and passenger, the detective noticed an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

The driver and passenger, identified as Cheyenne Alexis Harris, were asked to get out of the vehicle, and as they were getting out, police report Harris handed a detective a “partially smoked ‘blunt’ suspected marijuana cigarette.”

A search of the vehicle lead police to 323 empty gel caps, and they also report finding the following on Harris:

  • 3.7 grams of marijuana
  • 4.9 grams of crack cocaine
  • Two 5 mg tablets of oxycodone
  • Two capsules of suspected MDMA (Ecstasy/Molly)
  • 19 green/clear gel caps of heroin
  • $606 in cash

Harris was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine and heroin, possession of MDMA and oxycodone, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

That’s just absurd – a totally absurd amount of drugs. You would think maybe….y’know….if you’re going to have that much shit on you, you probably wouldn’t want to be openly smoking weed and nearly causing accidents. Definitely need to be a little more self-aware. Makes you wonder if maybe this person was some sort of drug dealer??? HMMMMMMMMMMM…..could it be?

What I’m most confused about is the intention behind handing off the blunt. The story doesn’t really specify, but I think it’s pretty important to know. Was she:

A) Trying to bribe the officer? Like, “hold up, dude – check this out. Get a hit off this shit, and you won’t be so worried about this little traffic incident.”

B) So high that she didn’t realize this was an officer of the law?

C) So fucked up that she didn’t realize what she was handing the officer?

-or-

D) Think that ‘sober’ and ‘high’ was different? Hear me out here – what if she’s thinking, “well, I’m not drunk, so of course I can take this sobriety test,” and just hands it on over? “I’m not drinking and driving, so it’s all good.” I don’t know – I’d hate to speculate. That’s for all the irresponsible journalists to do.

Regardless, the people deserve to know.

Anyway, good detective work here, I guess. When someone is openly smoking weed behind the wheel, it’s usually a good indicator that a law is indeed being broken.
