There’s a Little Bit of Thunder Snow in All of Us

Can so relate, brah. I mean, think of all of the bullshit we have to deal with on a day-to-day basis. We’ve all been here. We’ve all hit that point when we’re like, “nope – screw all of this, everything, today.” That’s where our boy Thunder Snow was during the Kentucky Derby on Saturday. But, that’s what makes stories like this so great. When something goes off the rails like this, it’s nice to know that even the best of us (horses included) get fed up sometimes.

Take today, for instance. It’s Monday – the statistically-proven shittiest day of the week. People storming out the gate to get to work. Me? I’m like, “nah – I ain’t about that life.” I wanted to pull a Thunder Snow so bad and just do my own thing. Maybe I want to gallivant about in the mud. Maybe I got a little freaked out by how serious things got in a hurry.

Then, there’s “the man.” We’ve all got a little jockey on our backs, whipping at our tail end, forcing us run when and where we don’t want to. It could be a job, a relationship, any number of responsibilities that force us into the rat race. Whatever it is, it sucks.

We put these societal constructs, such as horse racing, in place for no reason. It’s all just banking off of the work of these beautiful creatures. They don’t have any sort of say in what they do. So, yeah – I’m happy to see Thunder Snow bite back a little bit.

But, let’s not overcomplicate it. Let’s not turn this into some sort of metaphor. The mud sucks, too. I mean, do you want to get all dolled up to go run through some mud? No. HELL NO! I’m not running through mud at all. Ever.

I get your rebellion, Thunder Snow

And, yes – before anyone freaks out, I do know what happens to horses when they break their legs, and I did check to make sure Thunder Snow was okay before I published this piece.

Have a nice day.
