How many bad ideas have you guys shared amongst your crew at the local watering hole? I’ve had a few – one time, I outlined a backyard wrestling match that would have me take a powerbomb off the roof of my house. If I had actually followed through with that, I probably wouldn’t be here doing such important work for society (Remember: I was voted ‘Most Likely to Change the World’ by the Wilson Central High, Class of 2004).
Well, thankfully, most of us have the common sense to not enact those ideas. Not this guy…
(WARNING: If you click the link to the original story, you can see the photos of the dude’s foot, but I hate that shit, so I didn’t put it here)
It doesn’t take a smart person to guess it would be a bad idea to shoot your steel-toed boot, hoping it’ll stop a .45 caliber bullet.
We can thank this guy, with a grimace for teaching everyone how bad of an idea this was.
The images surfaced on a forum and they are extremely graphic, so proceed with caution.
“This guy and his co-workers were discussing whether a steel toe boot would withstand a round from a .45, so what do do you think would be the best way to test this theory? YUP, you guessed it. Good thing he wasn’t testing his hard hat.”
Based on the placement of the shot, it almost appears the shooter missed the steel toe insert in his boot. This might be a blessing in disguise, preventing metal shrapnel from spreading throughout the foot.
Let this be a not-so-friendly reminder to remember your gun safety.
Give the guy his due – no one can question his commitment anymore. Just….you know, maybe be smarter about what you commit to. And, thank God he missed! I’d make fun of him for attempting to test the steel toes, and then missing the steel toes, but it ended up being a positive.
Then again, if he gets shrapnel in his body, he’s only a step away from becoming Iron Man.
Anyway, y’all have a good day. I’m going to go see if my Under Armour underwear can stop a steak knife from entering my butt cheeks.
