As a part of our Halloween 2017 coverage, we’ve decided to open up a bit of our personal lives, and share some scary stories. These are full on eye witness accounts of spooky occurrences. So, get your popcorn ready. Feel free to pull these stories out around the campfire, too.
This one actually comes to us courtesy of the woman who made this all possible (by giving birth to me), my mother. She will be mortified at the thought of being associated with this web site at all, but in being a professional journalist, I have to report the facts. And, folks – the facts are…..she happens to have had one of the BEST possible scary stories you can imagine.
It all dates back to a time when she used to keep two of my cousins when they were children. This was before my time….literally….like, I literally wasn’t even born yet. So, she gets the kids down to sleep and goes to bed after a fun night of activities. Not really thinking too much about anything.
Well, she awakes in the middle of the night to the sound of the kids calling for her.
A little uneasy, but wanting to ensure everything and everyone was okay, she walked down the hallway to check on ’em. When she stepped into the doorway, she asked, “what’s the matter?”
The kids both asked, “what did you want?” Confused, she said, “well, what do you mean?”
One of my cousins – mind you, they were probably 6-8 at the time, maybe? I don’t recall – said, “Yeah, we woke up and saw you standing in the door a few minutes ago. What did you want?”
She froze. Not wanting to panic the kids, but also 1,000,000% sure she had been asleep all night, she simply said, “I was just checking in on you guys.” But, talk about an eery feeling.
I know one of my cousins just found out about this story about a month ago, but to this day, I don’t think she ever even told the other one. What a creepy tale.
