I Can’t Resist the Slippery Steps Game Any Longer

I usually try to avoid the stories that every other media outlet covers exhaustively, and this story is definitely one that sprawled all over the internet last week or two weeks ago. I’ve had this post pinned for a while now, because I reallllllly wanted to put it on the site. But, we also don’t want to contribute to your fatigue of the same old stories popping up all over your timelines. That said, I just can’t resist any longer. I watch this every time I pull up Instagram. Here you go, folks – it’s the Japanese slippery steps game:

Genius. That’s a real physical contest, folks. I don’t know how to categorize this. Is it sports? Is it humor? Entertainment? I don’t know.

This is like a much more hard-hitting version of Slamball. Shout out to Slamball. Does anyone remember that? Basketball with trampolines. Okay, now that I describe what Slamball was, I realize that it was nothing like this whatsoever. I don’t know why my brain went there – just pointing out the ridiculous games we play, I guess.

Anyway, I don’t know where the idea for this came. It seems a little cruel in a way. Like, there’s no way this should be possible, right? You’re knowingly sending these people out to fall down stairs for your amusement. Apparently, you’ve decided to wrap them in latex, too. This is high drama.

I don’t know about this – but, I also have a competitive side that has me like, “oh yeah – let’s do this! I don’t care how embarrassing it is!” How did they end up barefoot, though? That’s ice, right? That’s how they made this so slippery. That has to be rough on the feetsies.

So many questions about this phenomenon. But, all I can really do is just sit and enjoy this video.
