Since the inception of the internet, some of the finest bits of comedy have trickled out into our homes via our computer monitors. We all remember ‘ow Charlie, that hurt. Charlie bit me,’ and many more classics. Those timeless videos that remain funny no matter how much time has passed. Today, on this fine day of reflection and giving thanks, I think it’s appropriate for us to rewind several years and appreciate the ‘would you look at this’ guy for the genius he was:
Everything about this guy is funny. To this day, I can’t tell you how many times “Nature Boy” Brandon Vick and I have seen something and said, “ah, would you look at that?! Just look at that!” And, it never gets old. I want to say we were introduced to this video back in 2007. But, I have nothing to base that on other than that’s about the last time we hung out with the mutual friend who introduced us to this video.
But, the genius behind this video is definitely the delivery of the act. And, the look…the repetitiveness, and how no one seems to really know what to make of it. Hats off to this guy, because he’s truly created something that has a permanent legacy in the fabric of Americana. Is that a lofty statement? Maybe. But, I’m willing to make lofty statements. I make them all the time. In fact, I’ll make one now: I think I could jump off of a five story building and live.
