Benjamin Watson had himself one hell of a day yesterday – four catches for 74 yards and a touchdown as his Baltimore Ravens routed the Cleveland Browns 27-10. These Ravens could be dangerous if they get hot and they’re right in the thick of the AFC playoff race. Most notable for Watson yesterday was this 33-yard bomb he took to pay dirt:

But, take a longer look from a different angle:

“All I want for Christmas is a Ravens game ball.” Well, Ben Watson’s out here playing Santa Claus, people. ‘Tis the season! This kind of stuff gets me every time, but the fact that Watson is involved in a story like this is even better.
Because, the dude has quietly had an incredibly solid NFL career. He’s one of those guys you don’t think about too often…like, “oh, man – Ben Watson’s still in the league?!?!” But, he’s still hanging around, chopping wood.
It’s hard to believe this his 14th season in the NFL, but he just seems to keep getting better with age. Last year marked career highs in targets, receptions, receiving yards, and tied his career record for touchdowns. He spent six years working with Tom Brady in New England, then stints with Cleveland and New Orleans, before ultimately ending up with the Ravens.
His first year with the team and he is their Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee. Kudos to the ageless wonder. Respect.
