I have defended Nash Vegas relentlessly over the course of the last year. Listen, it’s a little grungy, but I live in Hermitage. We don’t have too many spots to go drink beer, watch the game, argue with rednecks, play beer pong, and end the night by fighting in the streets and maybe going to jail.
JB’s Pour House is nice and all, but there’s just no place like Nash Vegas this side of Smithville’s Midnight Express. You can play ping pong, pool, shuffle board. Every now and then, they have random comedy shows and a DJ. Typically, you have the dance floor all to yourself. It’s quite nice, really.
Well, I’m saddened to report the shocking news that a full-on bar brawl transpired over the weekend. It spilled out into the parking lot, and of course, in this day and age, all of the action was caught on video.
I can never get this right from Facebook, but let’s try it anyway:
It works on my computer, but I’ve heard when we’ve embedded videos from Facebook that they don’t show up. So, here’s the link in case it isn’t working.
So much to break down.
First of all, I just want to express how genuinely surprised I am that such an occurrence could go down at such a fine establishment. I’ve been to Nash Vegas a few times, and have always been impressed by the locale and clientele.
I’ve never once felt like, “hey guys, some of these people are starting to act a little hostile, maybe we should go finish the night at the bowling alley,” or anything even remotely like that. Not once felt like, “it’s 8PM and I’m starting to get a sketch ass vibe from this place. It’s time to go.” Never, in the maybe four times I’ve been there.
It just goes to show you that you can give the community a beautiful watering hole, but someone always has to ruin it for everyone.
I don’t even know what’s happening in this video. What could possibly have triggered half the bar to start yelling and swinging? Did someone play rap on the jukebox? Was someone asked, “aren’t you a little too old to be playing beer pong?” Who knows?
But, since what we do best is award people, I have to give out MVP honors. The MVP of this street brawl is definitely the woman who howls like a wolf outside the bar. Just such a strong dramatic performance and it totally calmed things down as you all can see. Kudos to her.
Finally, don’t say we don’t have our fingers on the pulse of Music City after we’ve covered this and the guy vandalizing Opry Mills earlier today. We know what’s important in this city.
