Everyone knows that there ain’t no shoe like a New Balance shoe because a New Balance shoe don’t quit. That’s science. Those little kicks are scientifically engineered to make older folks walk faster, harder, and more comfortably. Research is still trying to determine whether or not there is a magical property to New Balances. Like, once you turn 40, something clicks and they become machines of mass speed and velocity.
I’ve owned a couple of pairs of New Balances, because I am already an old man, and was an old man as early in my life as 18. I can safely say that they instantly made me feel 20 years older. And, it was like some sort of Hogwarts shit – the New Balances spoke to me and said, “Stoney – you’re not ready for these. But, when you’re older, you will understand.”
That’s why it makes me all the more excited to see this man in some random shoe shop, trying on the New Balances:
Here’s a link in case Instagram takes this down.
The delight of seeing someone experiencing New Balances for the first time is just astonishing. That man is happier than he’s ever been in his life, and he hasn’t even had the chance to really let these things rip on the soft indoor track at the YMCA yet!
For years, this man has probably heard the myths and thought, “surely New Balances can’t do THAT!” He finally caved and went down to his local Rack Room Shoes and now he’s living the dream.
But, give the man his credit. You never really know what these bad boys will do until you take them to the limit. And, that’s exactly what he’s doing in this video. You push the New Balances as hard as you can right off the bat. If they can survive his rigorous training regimen in that store, they can survive anything.
I would not be surprised to see this man in the Olympics soon – that’s what I’m trying to say here.
