Going back to work after any vacation is always rough if you hate your job. But, man – going back to work after a long break at the holidays just amplifies the dread. Especially considering we’ve been looking back at all we’ve accomplished on this web site and what an awesome year we had.
All I can hope is that one day soon, we’re able to make this web site something that allows me to walk away from shitty day jobs for good. But, until then, I’ll keep feeling like this kid who thought….well…I don’t know what he thought…
Yeah, back to reality, buddy. That’s all of us who have been on break for the last two weeks or so. We’re just on this fantasy fever dream of fun and relaxation, not so different from the rush of skating down a hallway, I guess. Then, suddenly, BOOM – the ceiling that is the usual routine and sitting at a desk waiting for 5PM to strike every day just comes in and blindsides us.
As for a breakdown of the actual video, well, I don’t know that there’s much to say. This was a pretty dumb idea, and I’m not sure that this kid could have landed what he was going for if he had a million tries. This just isn’t how physics work. But, this kid found that out the hard way – like, maybe a broken back ‘hard way.’
I think it’s a respectable and reasonable goal for everyone to find a job that does not make them feel like they’ve been hit in the face by a wall when they come back from vacation.
