Well, I’ll be damned. Ol’ wheelin’ dealin’ Jon Robinson is at it again! Earlier today, they announced that they’d be signing Malcolm Butler. Now, he’s brought in former Patriots running back Dion Lewis.
Former Patriots’ RB Dion Lewis intends to sign a 4-year deal with Tennesee, source tells ESPN.

New England South, y’all – boy oh boy, is his skillset just what the Titans needed in the backfield. Curious to see what the actual dollar amount looks like. But, if he can stay healthy, he and Derrick Henry are going to form quite the formidable duo.

Alright, Titans fans – legal tampering period is underway! We’re only a couple of days away from the official start of NFL free agency, and while rumors are swirling left and right, it’s hard to get a credible, accurate read on what Jon Robinson and company are planning. But, it looks that Dion Lewis may be in the cards for the Titans, at least according to one dude who gets paid to cover the NFL…
CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reports the Jets, Titans, and Colts are “in play” for free agent Dion Lewis.
Keep in mind – it’s Jason La Canfora….the same guy that reported Jon Bon Jovi was trying to buy the Titans. The guy’s repeatedly whiffed on stories before and gone totally silent when called out for it. But, that said, it’s still a step up from having one of us bloggers put it out there. There may be something here.
As for those pesky unconfirmed rumors, well, folks are saying that Lewis is definitely done in New England because he was unhappy with how he was used in the Super Bowl. Pretty wild.
Is he exactly what the Titan are lacking in a running back at the moment? Yes. He’s a versatile pass catcher who can make plays vertically, down the field. He is a weapon, plain and simple.
My fear is that the price tag is going to be too high for a guy who has an extensive injury history.
I can’t necessarily say I would be disappointed should Lewis join the Titans. But, I think if the team’s going to spend big money, it would be better served to do so elsewhere…maybe on a guy like Allen Robinson. I’m still banging the drum for Jerick McKinnon. But, there are plenty of decent options among pass-catching backfield specialists.
We’ll see what happens. This is the first of what I fear will be a million free agency rumors over the next couple of days. Stay tuned.
