Earlier in the week, we announced on Twitter that we would be teaming up with our friends at Has Been Sports to present the 1st (hopefully annual) Past Their Prime Combine, next Saturday (3/31/18) at high Noon at Charlie Daniels Park in Mount Juliet, Tennessee.
So, what does that mean?
Well, quite simply, it means that your favorite SoBros Network and Has Been Sports personalities are going to be running drills straight out of the NFL Scouting Combine Playbook for the sole purpose of your entertainment.
So far, we’ve lined up:
- The 40-yard dash
- Broad Jump
- 3-cone drill
- Deep ball contest
- Route running
You’ve likely seen the 40, the broad jump, and the 3-cone drill while watching grown men in their underwear work out at the NFL Scouting Combine. But, we also wanted to do something a little more practical. Drills that make actual football sense.
That’s why we added the deep ball contest, which is literally just seeing who can throw the ball the furthest, and the route running drill. I know this seems like a really tightly run ship, but we haven’t made up our minds as to which route(s) we’ll be running.
It is going to be an invigorating display of athleticism, and you should consider this your invitation to come out and cheer Team SoBros or Team Has Been on March 31st. The Corner Pub is also just about a half-mile down the road from the park, so you know post-combine brews are in order.
I started training on Monday by eating all of the Cool Whip in our fridge so that I would not be tempted by Cool Whip any longer over the course of my two week training period.
Later that night, I pulled something in my left leg.
This is going to be great.
