The 2018 NFL Draft takes place April 26-28 this year, and as it stands, the Tennessee Titans have one first round draft pick. General manager Jon Robinson and first year head coach Mike Vrabel currently hold the 25th overall selection. Over the next few weeks, your boy “Big Natural” Stoney Keeley will be taking a look at some of the prospects who are either rumored to be tied to or who make sense for the Titans.
After the former Ohio State defensive end had a knockout performance at the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine, his stock has started soaring. He’s one of those players that some have coming off the board as early as the teens while others have him out of the first round altogether. Kinda hard to get a gauge on the guy without a real consensus rating on him.
But, I’ve seen him mocked to the Titans on several mock drafts, so here we are.
Hubbard is one of those work ethic type of guys. He’s going to win because of relentless effort, not because he’s overly athletic. Though some would say his athleticism is a little underrated…again with the lack of uniform opinions on the guy…
He has sound fundamentals and technique. And, you just can’t argue with his overall body of work. Second Team All-Big Ten in 2017. Over the course of his college career, he’s amassed 17 sacks, 30 tackles-for-loss, and has two takeaways as a defensive end.
I’m not as high on Hubbard as either of the guys I’ve written about so far. He’s one of those “solid at everything, but not elite at any one thing” type of guys. I’ve read a lot of scouts who think he fits better in a 4-3. He doesn’t really have the athletic range to play OLB, but lacks the build for DE in a 3-4. So, in my book, it seems like there’s potential for a poor fit.
