Classic Work Mishap: Cop Gives Firefighter Cake Because She Accidentally Tased Him

We all make mistakes, but that’s just a part of being human. Sometimes, we forget appointments…or we spend more money than we’ve budgeted for. Or….conversely, sometimes, we tase people. At least that’s what happened in this story we’re reviewing today.

Courtesy of the AP:

An Ohio police officer has apologized for a work mishap by bringing a firefighter a cake iced with an unusual message: “Sorry I tased you.”

Hamilton Township Officer Darcy Workman says she accidently shocked firefighter Rickey Wagoner with her stun gun last week while attempting to restrain a patient being taken to a hospital. Wagoner wasn’t seriously hurt.

WLWT-TV reports Workman brought a cake to Wagoner on Saturday to apologize. Photos shared on the police department’s Facebook page show the cake decorated with the apology and a frowning face.

Excellent move on this officer’s part. If anything is going to me make me forget that you tased me, it’s a nice cool ice cream cake. What a treat. I don’t know that this is an ice cream cake, but I’m just illustrating my point. Cake cures all. There is absolutely nothing that a cake can’t fix.

But, I will say – I don’t quite understand emergency protocol. If there was a patient being taken to a hospital, why was the fireman there? Do firefighters just go to every scene? Like, I’m pretty sure they help get cats out of trees and stuff, and that doesn’t make sense for firefighters to do. So, are they just sending ’em out as a sort of catch-all human superhero? “We need to restrain this patient – firefighters assemble!”

Obviously, I don’t want to speculate too heavily not knowing all the facts in this story, but maybe this officer thought this firefighter was trying to help this patient escape. In other words, maybe she thought this firefighter was The Joker, and “accidentally” tased him.

I don’t know – there’s just too much information to gather. But, I will say this: she could’ve pulled out a gun and shot him and that beautiful cake would’ve made him forget all about it the next day.
