Titans Draft Roundup 2018: Ronnie Harrison Popping up on Mocks

Welcome to the weekly Tennessee Titans draft roundup for the 2018 NFL Draft. Over the course of the next several weeks, I’ll be releasing this column once a week with my very professional journalism opinions. You’ll find everything from rumors to wild speculation to actual analysis (sometimes). Titan up!

*Could Nashville host the NFL Draft? It’s been a hot topic of discussion ever since the NFL announced that Nashville was on their radar for the big event. While our current setup for a Super Bowl bid is comparatively weak to other cities, I think we make a pretty damn good case for the NFL Draft. It’s the usual stuff with Nashville – great facilities, logistically compact, and it’s a city with a personality. I’m not going to just say we should get the NFL Draft. I’m willing to make the prediction….we will get the NFL Draft.

*The Titans have started a pretty cool little feature on their website titled, “Names to Know,” featuring some of the prospects that fit for the team. Interesting to see Virginia Tech LB Tremaine Edmunds on there, considering most think he’ll be long gone by the time the Titans are on the clock at #25.

*Alabama safety Ronnie Harrison has popped up on a couple of mock drafts recently. I think the idea is pretty interesting, but definitely doesn’t fill the Titans biggest need. I like the idea because Harrison would be a nice complement to free safety Kevin Byard’s style as the ball-hawking rangy centerfielder. I’m not as low on Johnathan Cyprien as everyone else. Think he still has something left in the tank. But, that also ensures that Harrison wouldn’t have to come in and be an impact player right away. You’d still need pass rush help, but this looks like a deep draft for that. A move to get an enforcer like Harrison would solidify this as one of the best young secondaries in the NFL. Why not give it a shot?

*The Titans met with South Florida DT Bruce Hector at the Bulls’ Pro Day. At Iowa’s Pro Day, the Titans spent time with both CB Josh Jackson and OL James Daniels.

*The legend Jim Wyatt did a full write-up on Jon Robinson and Mike Vrabel’s willingness to get in on the drills at these Pro Days. A little further reading here.

*Kansas DE/OLB Dorance Armstrong is starting to generate a buzz as an absolute beast of nature. 29 teams attended the Kansas Pro Day. But, the Titans were one of just three teams to host a private workout for the prospect so far.

*I’m not entirely open to the idea of the Titans selecting a wide receiver in the first round. But, if they were to draft one, D.J. Moore from Maryland seems like a good fit. The kid has a wealth of talent, too. I’m only mentioning it here because I’ve seen a few people online discussing the possibility.

*As it stands, the Titans will have six picks in this year’s draft:

1st round – 25th overall
2nd round – 57th overall
3rd round – 89th overall
4th round – 125th overall
5th round – 162nd overall
6th round – 199th overall
