Lake Season Reminder: Let Go of the Rope

Lake Season is just around the corner, officially unofficially kicking off with the holiday this weekend. But, before you go about your escapades on the water, it’s important to plan and brush up on your safety. You never know when you might be out of your element and need those instincts to kick in. Today, for instance, we have probably one of the more critical items you should definitely commit to memory.

As usual, here’s a link in case Instagram takes this down.

Nope Nope Nope

Yep – if you’re going to rope swing, please don’t forget that you actually do have to let go of the rope.

I want you all to go out and find some rope. Now, take it out in the backyard, and let go of it. Just do it – over and over until you’ve mastered the art of letting go of the rope. Do it so many times that when you go to close your eyes to sleep at the end of the night, all you see

Study some physics if you have to. Know that when that rope hits the end of the pendulum, you better GTFO or you’re coming back from where you just came.

Otherwise, you’re going to end up like this kid, and no matter how strong we all think we are, hanging on to a tree is incredibly hard to do. I hope this guy’s okay, but I’m not betting on it. Never mind the impact of  of hitting the tree, then the ground, then the water. He slides down that sumbitch in a way that makes me think there’s some of his skin stuck on that tree.

Yikes.

Don’t be this guy. Have your fun during Lake Season, but please do so responsibly and, most importantly, gracefully.
