I’m a big fan of “finding a way.” It’s a big reason I invented the Clutch Hall of Fame. So, you can imagine my delight when I read about this clutch sheriff’s deputy who threw a couple cans of beans at a would-be crazy hammer guy.
The Panama City News Herald reports a Bay County sheriff’s deputy threw two cans of beans and helped subdue a man threatening people with a hammer inside a grocery store. Maj. Jimmy Sanford says the cans of Bush’s extra brown sugar baked beans were an alternative to using deadly force.
Initial reports Thursday said the suspect had a gun. It turned out to be a hammer, but he allegedly attacked three law officers with it. A video obtained by the newspaper shows Sanford hurling the cans at the suspect, who was arrested.
Just an absolutely clutch maneuver. Also, we need to mention that Maj. Jimmy Sanford must have a fucking CANNON to take down a crazy dude swinging a hammer with two simple tosses. I’m not saying a can of beans to the head wouldn’t hurt, but to knock you groggy enough for police to subdue you? Yeah, that’s gotta be a hard toss.
Or, maybe I just have a hard head. I mean, I have been concussed at least five times. But, you also have to be accurate. You have one real shot at disorienting the guy. If you miss, he’s on to you. Then, next thing you know, the sumbitch is swinging that hammer at you and you’ve lost the element of surprise. So, kudos for nailing the shot when it counted most.
Anyway, thankfully, video of the happening has surfaced thanks to the trusty ol’ security cam:

You know the folks at Bush’s beans are freaking stoked by all the free publicity out of this. Not only is their product a hit at the Summer barbecue. But, it can also fend off criminals.
How proud is that talking dog right now?
