Rough bit of news for Burger King, and it’s got me thinking….we seem to have written a lot about Burger King…more than any other fast food joint, I think. So, why does all the weird shit happen at the BK Lounge? I don’t know. But, really – I’m just rambling and that’s neither here nor there. The fact is that we are here today to talk about this cop who was irate because the King spread dirt all over his burger!
Courtesy of the Orlando Sentinel:
“I was the Officer who was served a burger at Burger King a 4004 Cleveland Avenue in Ft Myers with dirt in it. At first I thought it was just burned bacon, I was hungry and ate the burger. At the last bite I saw dirt and grit on the burger. In disgust I threw it out the window,” Fort Myers Police Officer Tim McCormick wrote on Facebook earlier this week.
Yeah, I mean – you read that, and you’re thinking, “WTF, Burger King?!” That, and, “sir, how much burnt bacon have you eaten? What kind of bacon you eating that tastes like dirt?” But, mostly – “smdh, y’all messed up, BK!”
But, then you read the follow-up and find out that a thorough investigation concluded that it wasn’t dirt at all. Instead, it was likely just the regular seasoning they put on the burgers.
A review of surveillance video in the kitchen from the day the officer received his food cleared the staff of wrongdoing, said Dan Fitzpatrick, CEO and Chairman of Quality Dining Inc., the franchisee that operates the fast food joint.
“We invited senior level Fort Myers Police Department officials,” he told USA Today.
They all agreed that nothing inappropriate occurred when employees prepared the burger and Burger King officials have invited McCormick to review the footage.
Fitzpatrick said a salt and pepper blend is added to the food as part of the prep process for cooking meat. It’s likely the mixture combined with the flame-broiled grill process resulted in the substance McCormick mistook as dirt.
Ooooooooohhhh, the shade!
Can you imagine? Burger King – you produced something so foul that it convinced a man to go on a social media tirade, furious about eating dirt. Like, he really believed that was dirt! This wasn’t just some guy frivolously complaining about food tasting like dirt. He legit said it was straight up dirt.
Personally, I think it would’ve been better for Burger King’s reputation if this had been dirt.
At least then they could say, “we have identified the responsible parties and have terminated them,” or whatever you say to someone you just fired for putting dirt on burgers. But, nah – the results came back that you were right all along. Nobody put dirt on a burger, it’s just that the regular seasoning you use on all your burgers tastes like dirt and has the consistency of dirt.
No matter how you slice it, this is a huge L for Burger King.
