At Least This Egyptian Zoo That Painted a Donkey to Look Like a Zebra Is Trying

In the latest zoology news out of Egypt, which I know all of our readers are dying to stay privy to, one zookeeper is coming under fire for apparently painting a donkey to look like a zebra. This has rocked the Egyptian zoo community, and really, zoo-goers everywhere.

An Egyptian zoo has been torn off a strip for allegedly attempting to fool visitors by painting black and white stripes on a donkey to make it look like a zebra.

The row began when a student visiting the recently opened animal sanctuary in Cairo’s International Gardens Park spotted the unusual-looking animal and shared a photo of it on Facebook, the Daily Mail reports.

Mahmoud Sarhani said: “When we went to the zebra side, there was only one zebra.

“It came to us and the other one didn’t move, but when he came near to me, I realised from the first look that it was a painted donkey, not a zebra.”

Zookeeper Mohamed Sultan denies the allegations, despite experts claiming otherwise.

I mean…..does it really take an “expert” to look at a donkey and tell that it is not a zebra? I’m curious to know what kind of hill Sultan is going to die on defending his stance. Because I look at that one photo and immediately recognize that that is not a zebra.

How can you possibly say it is?!

For the record, I generally hate zoos, too. As a grown ass man, I come away from a zoo feeling quite sad more often than happy. That’s probably a different discussion, one that’s much more serious than this website would warrant. But, I felt like throwing it in here….for some reason.

Anyway, we’re all just trying to make a buck these days. Some of us work really hard to create good, honest, unique content. Some of us try to take advantage of people through fraud. Whatever. At least they’re trying to put things out into the world, you know?

At least they’re trying to make a better attraction for all the families in Egypt. And, really, hell – what kid is going to look at it and know it’s not a zebra? You should just get rid of all the actual zebras and only put painted donkeys in the exhibit and no one would know.

Finally, as a disclaimer, I hope no Egyptians are offended by this post. I haven’t always had a good standing with them, so I’m a little nervous.
