The Titans created a bit of late-draft buzz when they selected Washington State quarterback Luke Falk at the Tom Brady pick. It raised a few eyebrows…the Titans taking such a highly touted prospect when they only had four draft picks. Supposedly hitching the wagon to Marcus Mariota didn’t help, and a lot of people called it an unnecessary pick.
But, the team went out and signed Blaine Gabbert to serve as Mariota’s backup, so Falk will have a chance to develop at a slower pace than he would if the team had an immediate need. You can call it a hot take if you want, but I actually think Falk was a good pick and is good at the football. But, his name hasn’t really been popping up on a lot of the training camp reports. You wouldn’t expect regular third-string quarterback updates to be a thing, but people are going to be curious nonetheless given the nature of the selection. Well, here’s the first update I’ve really taken notice of and it is hilarious.
This horrific throw was not Blaine Gabbert as I said earlier, but Luke Falk. #Titans. pic.twitter.com/c1Te3pmZdc

We gotta cut the kid a break, right? I mean, we’re just having fun here. That’s what we do. One bad training camp throw from a rookie sixth round pick is not going to indict him for the rest of his career.
But, that said – holy shit was that bad.
That ball ran out of gas from the moment it left Falk’s hand. It was almost as if Falk’s football had extra gravity in it. Just goes straight up and then BOOM – straight to the ground. Did he have the football on a string? Once it hits 40 yards, it’s going to bounce right back! But, even if he did get the depth on it, he’s throwing to a receiver that is very obviously double covered. That play didn’t have a chance, and I’m left laughing at how bad it all looked. Am I terrible person? Maybe. But, let me be very clear – I’m a Luke Falk fan.
And, I’m going to level with you guys – shit like this is the reason I love training camp. Sure, football is exciting and all, but let’s see some ridiculous shit. Sign me up for that eight days a week, pal.
