Obligatory Kerry Coombs Appreciation Post

All the big boys on the Tennessee Titans writing circuit have posted their own version of the Kerry Coombs appreciation post. So, apologies for being so late to the ball game. But, I don’t think this reputable website can be considered among the honest Titans journalists if we don’t have our own version of this very important thread. In other words, what I’m saying is that no one will ever think we’re real writers if we don’t come out in support of Coombs and spend at least 300 words talking about what a fiery guy he is.

Yesterday, Coach Coombs was out there running routes, taking on coverage, and hauling in touchdowns. Per the legend Jim Wyatt, who shall from now on only be referred to as “The Legend” Jim Wyatt:

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why Coombs is #TheGuy. He gets out there yelling and acting wild, but, it comes from a place of great confidence – it’s because he is on his shit. You wish you had sauce like Kerry freaking Coombs. You want a guy who’s going to answer the bell no matter what on your side. It doesn’t matter that Coombs is playing receiver in this drill when he coaches the DBs. That’s irrelevant.

What matters is that Coombs is a gamer. You throw down the gauntlet, and he’s going to respond.

But, let’s be real – winning ain’t always pretty. Sure, he won the play here, but that route was ugly. Any time you find yourself squared up and running backwards as a wide receiver, you’re in trouble. But, that makes it all the more inexcusable if you’re #29 here. You got beat by a coach, and he was running a terrible route. That’s what separates the winners….the real champion of men like Coombs, from the average Joes.

Also, what is this? Club Saint Thomas? That music is way too loud and sounds like the auditory embodiment of a seizure. Or, am I just an old man?

Okay, Coombs should’ve learned an important lesson here. You go out a winner, on your own terms. Coombs had a chance to Elway that bitch after catching a touchdown and spiking the ball into next week, but he didn’t do it. He lined up again, probably because he’s the ultimate football guy and addicted to competition, and he boned it. “I HAD IT, I HAD IT!” You can just tell this one’s going to keep him up at night for a while.

I also love that you can hear him OVER the music. But, then again – what’s not to love about Coach Coombs?

And, with that, I thank you for tuning in to the most important piece of Titans journalism you will read today.
