THE HAPPYTIME MURDERS

2.5 out of 5 stars

Putting puppets out on the mean streets in a Los Angeles noir filled with murder, sex and drugs sounds ridiculous and hilarious. And it is at first. Only, after the initial shock wears off from hearing a kid friendly creation curse, it’s all downhill from there. Props to director Brian Henson for tossing out the warm and fuzzy shit and going full on rated R raunchy; but, shame on him for stuffing jokes with no wit and leaving us with a tired and torn murder mystery. As far as the human actors go—they should’ve quit playing with dolls a long time ago.
