As It Turns Out, Matt Riddle Is Not a “Dummy” Or a “Loser”

In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past several weeks, Matt Riddle has signed with WWE’s developmental brand, NXT. This coming off the heels of one of the most impressive runs in indy wrestling history. I don’t know that there’s ever been a prospect like Riddle – a guy who’s just taken to wrestling like a pig in shit. There’s no other way to describe it. He’s become an outright sensation in recent years, and that work, that potential, has been rewarded with a big time deal.

It’s been fun to watch, for sure.

But, Riddle took some time over the weekend to look back and wave at the haters. Namely, Dana White.

R.I.P. to Dana White. You were completely wrong, and now you’ve been reminded of that in savage fashion.

I guess maybe I’m the one who’s been living under a rock because I never knew this existed. I mean, it’s not hard to find documentation of Riddle’s UFC exit. But, to go on national television and blast the dude like this? That’s pretty shitty. So, I’m glad Riddle’s held on to this and has decided to take this subsequent victory lap.

How can you not absolutely fucking love Matt Riddle?

Seriously, I’ve never heard a bad story about the guy. We covered him for the first time in person at the Scenic City Invitational in 2017, and he was one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met. He took pictures with everyone who wanted one, appeared on podcasts, the whole nine yards. People say he’s a downright pleasure to work with, and he acts like a sponge, absorbing whatever information he can.

So, you pair that attitude with his aptitude in a wrestling ring, and this man has superstar potential. Some have said he has potential unlike anything we’ve seen before. Time will tell, but the journey’s sure to be can’t-miss.

Happy to see guys like that succeed and happy to see guys like that put their haters in their place.

*BRO chant ensues*
