Now We Know: Recliners Do Not Get Good Traction for Sledding Down Stairs

I’m a big fan of recliners. They might be my favorite piece of furniture, to be honest (for my full Furniture Power Rankings, please subscribe to our $8/month tier on Patreon). You can relax in them….literally, you can put your feet up. Sometimes, if you find the right model, you can gently rock back and forth for hours on end. Find a good blanket and just settle in for the day. Nothing beats it.

But, one thing you’re going to learn here today is that recliners do not make for good sledding devices, otherwise known as ‘sleds’ – a recliner is not a good sled on stairs in homes.

As usual, here’s a link in case Instagram decides to take this video down.

First of all, we need to blame Home Alone for this. The folks that produced that movie should be held accountable for putting thoughts like this in the minds of Americans everywhere with that scene where Kevin sleds down stairs and into the front yard. That is sensationalized and impractical, and now we see grown ass adults trying the same stunt. Do the right thing, Chris Columbus. Apologize – it’s 2018.

At least homie at the top had a flashlight so this fine young couple could see where they were going….not that it helped much. I think they would have felt the same effect if they decided to drop a Snuka splash from the top of the stairs. Ol’ girl’s leg gets folded up under the front of the chair and that effectively serves as a catapult that sends her face directly into the floor. The first floor, mind you. Just brutal….I guess maybe I should’ve checked to make sure these people weren’t dead before posting this, but I’m going to trust the Golden Rule on this one: you can’t post something on the internet if somebody dies.

In closing, I should specify that I don’t actually know whether this is a recliner or not. Thank you for your time.
