I Can Get on Board With the ‘Jachai Polite to the Titans’ Talk

On his latest NFL mock draft, USA Today’s Doug Farrar has mocked Florida Gators DE extraordinaire Jachai Polite to the Tennessee Titans. This is what my investigative journalist mind would dub ‘a smart idea.’

Courtesy of USA Today:

Titans head coach Mike Vrabel has two excellent pass-rushers in Jurrell Casey and 2018 rookie Harold Landry, but you can never have too much pass rush, especially on a staff that knows how to utilize multi-gap edge guys. Polite, who amassed 11 sacks and 19 tackles for loss in 2018, may be the quickest and most sudden edge man in this draft class. He absolutely explodes through and to the pocket from outside, and though he does tend to get erased by more powerful tackles, the 6’2”, 242-pound Polite could be a major addition if he’s put in place to take advantage of open gaps.

There’s a lot of craziness out there right now. If I have to read one more ‘Titans select a cornerback’ mock draft, I’m going to scream bloody murder. No, literally, I’m going to lose my shit and accuse someone of murder.

But, this? Polite to the Titans? That not only addresses a need, but it does so with an explosive player. Yeah, sign me up. I’ve seen people mention Polite as the potential “next Clay Matthews.”

I’m sure I’ll cover Polite in greater detail later on in the draft process, but for now, just know that reasonable mocks from national media members are floating around out there if you’re lookin’ for ’em.
