PSA: Don’t Go Into the Jaguar Pen for a Selfie

What is it about a zoo that brings out the worst in people? This lady is lucky to be alive!

Courtesy of The Hill:

A visitor sustained nonlife-threatening injuries at the zoo in Litchfield Park, Ariz., while allegedly leaning over the cat’s enclosure to take a selfie. Officials said the cat reached out and attacked her arm.

Mickey Ollson, the director of Wildlife World Zoo, told Arizona’s CBS 5 News that there is “no way to fix people crossing barriers.”

“That happens occasionally,” Ollson said. “We put substantial barriers there, and if people cross them they can get in trouble.”

This could have ended VERY badly. We almost had a Harambe part 2 (#ripharambe). Why did this situation occur? Because this moron wanted to “get a better selfie”.

Friend: “hey Becky you know what would make that selfie get more than 3 likes?”

Becky: “what? I’ll do anything!”

Friend: “climb over that barrier into the jaguar pen and take a selfie”

Becky: “great idea”

Like what in the actual fuck? I never wish harm on anyone but this was very close to natural selection at its finest. She is lucky to be alive.

These animals have animal instincts even though they are in captivity. You enter their domain, be prepared to face death. Putting down the jaguar should never be a thought.

PS – You think the other jaguars rag on this guy every day?

“you guys see Jack? Guy had a chance to maul that chick and all he did was cut up her arm. He is getting soft in his captivity”

Hopefully the jaguars friends aren’t as mean as mine…

Let’s use some common sense folks – no more unnecessary zoo maulings.
