A lot of the SoBros Network team is into frolf. That’s ‘frisbee golf’ for the uninitiated. I’ve been playing since the mid 2000s and have won two championships. Sure, those championships were won out of fields of six and two, and it was just our circle friends, but damn it – I count that shit.
Also, quick shout out to our friend Kenny, who won the “title” in 2010.
Anyway, since we’re approaching the one-year anniversary of the 2018 SoBros Frolf Championship, and since we’re starting to plan for the 2019 SoBros Frolf Championship, I figured this would be the perfect time to relive last year’s instant classic.
The rest of the field bailed and it was just Brandon vs. me. It’s widely regarded as the greatest frisbee golf rivalry Gladeville has ever seen. We’ve been playing against each other and swapping victories for the better part of a decade now. So, it was only fitting that we were the only two who showed up to play that day.
The setting was Cedars of Lebanon park – the first course I ever played at. Brandon’s good at CoL – my game is predicated on power more than precision, and there are hardly any wide open throws for me to make. That takes away the distance advantage I may have at say, Two Rivers Park, or if you’re into the scene, think hole #15 at Smyrna.
It was hot that day and I was desperately out of shape. Brandon, on the other hand, was fit as a fiddle. It made for a close contest that came down to the very last throw on the very last hole.
Thankfully, we had a film crew there to document the entire championship match.
Thank you guys for bearing with us as we continue to migrate a lot of our YouTube content over here to the site. To those of you who have already watched this video, sorry! If you’re seeing it for the first time, then I should probably apologize for that, too.
