SCI 2017 marked what was essentially the beginning of our journey into covering independent wrestling.
Having said that, that weekend will always hold a bit of a special place in my heart. But, it was also a bit of a shit show, as I’ve come to expect from the wondrous Scenic City Invitational.
I wanted to go in 2016, but having poison ivy covering my body from head to toe prevented me from doing it. So, I made it a point to head down with the SoBros team in 2017. It didn’t disappoint. We stayed at the Best Western for two nights – we met the whole crew on Thursday night, Brandon and Cad drove down Friday. Then, on Saturday, I thought it’d be a nice treat to take the guys to the Chattanooga Choo-Choo and stay a night there. Definitely not a good move – in hindsight, I hated staying away from all the action at the Best Western by God Heritage Inn.
We definitely flew a little too close to the sun that weekend. But, that’s part of why this has become one of my favorite weekends of the entire year. Let’s look back at SCI 2017 courtesy of the SoBros YouTube channel.
