Crux Wrestling: Hey Jealousy Recap

The 2019 SCI weekend got started off with a shebang that was Crus Wrestling’s Hey Jealousy. There was a ton of buzz going into the show which showed right away as the TWE Arena started filling up well before bell time. As things were getting kicked off with the master of ceremonies for the night/Mr. Do It All JRose, we had an unwanted appearance from James C. Businessman. We were told that not only was Tank not going to be in competition but that Tripp Cassidy and Shotzi Blackheart were both banned from the building! Well shit.

Crux Wrestling presents Hey Jealousy

Manders vs. Lutha X vs. Blake Christian vs. Dreamboy 001- Things may not have started well with James C., but the first match of the night totally crushed. There was a ton of talent with this group of dudes/boy and they did the damn thing. Manders was throwing out shoulder tackles left and right. Not surprising, I know. A real highlight was the Cornbelt Cowboy hitting a double powerslam on Lutha AND Dreamboy. Manders is a big, strong man which would be a constant theme of the weekend. Blake, who has been severely underrated in the state for a while, showed out once again with springboards and hurricanranas for daaaaaaays. To counter act all the flying and strong boi shenanigans, Lutha utilized his impressive submission work on more than one occasion, nearly stealing the win after catching Blake in a kneebar before Dreamboy comes flying in with a 450 splash on Blake for the win. This was a blast and just what we needed to kick off the weekend.

Uncle Byff hits the ring and thumps Dreamboy/Blake before calling out O’Shay Edwards. You don’t have to ask that man twice and we’re off.

Uncle Byff vs. O’Shay Edwards- I know this will be surprising to read, but this was much more ‘fist fight’ than ‘wrestling match.’ Aside from punches, forearms, and other hand to hand combat, we did have a moment in wrestling I never thought I’d see. Byff eating an Oklahoma Stampede. I mean it took a guy the size of O’Shay to do it, but my god was it a sight to see. Had it not been for Mama Hannah getting involved, Shay may have had it locked up. As Shay was getting ready to hit that Kaiju sized moosault, he gets pelted in the face with powder from Hannah then is powerbombed by Byff leading to the 1-2-3.

Kiss My Foot Match: Bailey Blake and Juicy Jimmy vs. Ryan Dookie and Lemonjuice McGee-This was the right type of match to follow the previous fight. Don’t get me wrong, there was badd blood in this with high stakes…some may say the highest of stakes. With this being Lemonjuice’s first official match, Dookie was the workhorse. He took all the punishment and trust me, Bailey was looking to get his feet kissed. After a couple of stunners from Dookie, he makes the tag and Lemonjuice gets the pin on Juicy Jimmy. McGee had his shoe off and bare foot ready for a kissing so fast for Jimmy, who was more than happy to oblige.

Jeremiah Plunkett vs. Levi Everett- What a battle in styles. Old School Memphis vs. Old School Everything. Plunkie was on Levi from the jump but ole Everett has more than a little fight in him. Probably from all the long days on the farm. We get big time offense from Plunkie. who gets a very near fall after a gross spine buster. Levi fights back and locks in THE CHURN!!! Just as Plunkett was inching closer to tapping, his manager, Mr. Day, causes a distraction, which opened the door for Plunkie to smack Levi with a foreign object, then hit ole reliable aka a gross piledriver for the win.

The Office (Cubicle Man Dan, Nick Iggy and Daniel Perez) vs. The Hooligans – This was a straight up brawl right out of the gate. We had dudes being chucked into walls, heavy handed strikes, and a series of avalanches to Daniel Perez in the corner that had me fearing for his life. Post-Perez murder, the Hooligans went for the pin before HR yanked the ref out of the ring. This allowed Iggy to smash one of the Hooligans with a briefcase. Once the ref was back in the ring, it was a simple 1-2-3 and a win for The Office. Post match, HR was absolutely destroyed by The Hooligans, which was appreciated all around.

10 Person Blindfold Battle Royal- This was fucking crazy in the best kind of way. Some of the names featured were Donnie Primetime, Slade Porter, Benjamin Carter, Peyton Polson and Kalon Jay. The real power move of this match was Donnie just yanking people’s blindfolds off. It comes down to Donnie and Slade with Primetime going back to the well with another blindfold swipe. Slade only having one eye was really a positive in this scenario as he simply covered it with his hand. Brilliant stuff really. Porter eliminates Donnie and is your winner.

IFHY (Shawn Kemp and Jonathan Wolf) vs. The Smoking Budz (Cody Morton and David Morton)- Yo I was all fired up for this one. Two of my favorite and most underrated teams in the greater southern-midwest territory going head to head. Shit got popped off with Kemp pleading for a belly rub before Wolf dragged him back to the corner and forced a tag. From here, we were off to the fucking races.

Sweet ass tag team wrestling from both teams with some nightly news worthy shit going down. At one point, Cody goes over the top and hits a destroyer on Wolf to the apron while Kemp is crushed by a german suplex at the hands of David for a near fall. Just a lil later, The Budz hit stereo bullshit after running up the arena wall. All of this pales in comparison to what the IFHY boys pulled out.

Wolf hit the “Your mom’s a ho” plex on David putting him nearly through the damn wall. The shit was stupid dumb and it got the people going. With David out, Kemp smashes Cody into the turnbuckle with a disgusting DVD that secures the bag for the IFHY crew. This was the most underrated match of the weekend. Stop sleeping on these teams!

Billie Starkz vs. Ruthless Lala- Space Jesus came out firing but Ruthless Lala showed off the ruthlessness that earned her the name. After a few strikes and a vicious lariat Lala picks up the win. (Editor’s Note: Boat)

B-Boy vs. Chip Day- A legit dream match and it did not disappoint. An all out strike fest with both dudes looking to knock the other out. Chip’s kicks were on another level, but that probably has everything to do with the man staring across from him. Because for every sick kick Chip landed, B-Boy came right back with a forearm or a fist. The two beat the hell out of each other and the Crux faithful was with them the entire way. Chip gets a submission victory over The New Age Punisher but this was an all out war of attrition. This is another one that I really can’t do justice through written word. SEEK THIS MATCH OUT ON IWTV RIGHT NOW.

Crux Tri-State Championship: Sage Philips (c) vs. Jaden Newman- What a tough spot for this match to be in. In between Chip/BBoy and a fucking tag team death match. Not many people could have really kept the crowd kicking through all that, but these two sure as hell did.

I mean Jaden is the man around the Chattanooga area (and then some) and he was coming into the weekend ready to show why. A title opportunity against a guy like Sage was a hell of a way to kick things off for Numero Uno. We went back and forth through the majority of the match with both men nearly closing things out a couple of times. It looked like the night was over for Jaden (or maybe both) after eating a release German on the apron. Sage follows that up with an octopus stretch. Guess he hadn’t heard that Jaden just don’t give a fuck. Newman powers out, then blasts Sage with an elbow to the dome for the win. Big time congratulations out to Jaden! It’s been a pleasure seeing him tear it up all over the damn place.

Fans Bring The Weapons Death Match: Matt Tremont and Uncle Buff vs. Kerry Awful and Righteous Jesse- What a bloodletting. I mean where else are you gonna see a piñata filled with Legos used? (Thanks Steven) The real highlight was everyone getting bashed with light tubes, sending children screaming/crying while running the other way.

Thankfully, they moved so Jesse could get dropped on the front row seats courtesy of Byff. If cheese graters, tubes, crutches, and a walker wasn’t enough, we had Ruthless Lala running in to drop Kerry Awful. Iggy chases her out only for BRETT ISON to show up (in shorts and no show socks mind you). Brett headbutts Byff then stares down Tremont. A very brief stare down as Brett takes his shot and gives The Bulldozer ‘Street Justice.” Byff knocks Ison out of the ring, then DVDs Jesse on light tubes while Tremont does the same to Kerry through a BOB WIRE door. Hooooooooly shit this went all the way in.

Post-match saw Brett and Tremont just staring each other down like they were aching to fight. Everyone around us was so hyped up for this. What a match. What a night.
