RECAP
OK. Lets get the elephant out of the room. Pickens allowed a goal. I know, just cut him from the team, amirite? The clean sheet / shut out streak is now over. Charlotte got a screened shot that caught Pickens pick’n up some daisies. I’ll see myself out.
First goal came at the 7′ mark. SEVEN. But it could have been earlier than that too. Belmar had a hell of a strike up in the box that could have set the tone, but was turned away by the Independence keeper. The first goal was set up by Moloto and Washington to the golden footed honey badger himself, Daniel Rios. That’s number sixteen for #14.
Second goal is from Enzo Martinez at mark 22′. Lazy clear by Nashville D leads to some fumbling and a great strike from Enzo. Pickens didn’t even make a step to stop it because the defense and Charlotte had locked his vision down.
First half would end 1-1
Third goal was at 52′. Nashville gets set up for a penalty shot. Independence Mansally takes Winn down hard just off the side of the net after a disaster of a cross. Rios takes the shot and Rios does not miss. 17th goal of the season in his 24th start.
Fourth and final goal of the night comes at the 59th minute. Kharlton Belmar fakes a pass with a beautiful no look shot to the back of the net. Belmar gets his third goal in his 18th start of the season.
Nashville stays unbeaten in six games with five of those coming as wins. Rios continues his march to a potential Golden Boot season. Pickens faced four shots on target with three saves. Nashville ends the game with 17 shots and seven on target. Belmar and Rios had two quick shots within the first six minutes that really set the march for this game. Nashville is back on the pitch on a make up game against the New York Red Bulls II on Wednesday August 21.
