Podcast: Brett Ison on SCI 2019 Weekend

Like many others, it was a big weekend for “The Pitbull” Brett Ison at the 2019 Scenic City Invitational. On Thursday, he showed up at Crux Wrestling. There, he crashed the “Fans Bring the Weapons” Death Match, held between the teams of Kerry Awful & Righteous Jesse and Matt Tremont and Uncle Byff. On Night 1 of SCI, he took on Tremont in a war. On Night 2, he was added to the SCI card against B-Boy in a re-match of what was my personal favorite match from 2018. And, he successfully defended his Bonestorm Championship in a Fatal 4-Way at Southern Underground Pro on Sunday against O’Shay Edwards, J.D. Drake, and Anthony Henry.

Ison was gracious enough to join “The General” John Mosley on a special episode of Checks and Championships from the infamous Best Western Heritage Inn. On it, they discuss what it was like to stand in that ring at Crux with his brothers Kerry Awful and Righteous Jesse. They talk about facing Tremont in the first round of SCI and the feeling he got when he stared into the Bulldozer’s eyes.

Then, there’s a full preview of the Bonestorm Championship match, during which Ison talks about his state of mind heading into SUP on that fateful Sunday. All this, plus Ison’s take on putting in work. That’s something that applies far beyond the confines of professional wrestling. Good, good shit, y’all.
