If you’re anything like us, you remember the glory days of the good old fashioned summer blockbuster. That’s why the sad state of affairs that was the summer of 2019 is all the more disturbing. It seems like we’re drifting further and further away from that good ol’ ‘summer at the movies’ vibe.
With the summer of 2019 dwindling down at the cinemas, “Nature Boy” Brandon Vick and I hopped in front of the microphone to relive some of the highlights (there were a few, to be fair…especially if you count Avengers: Endgame). Plus, we hit some of the lowlights as well. Did anyone actually watch Child’s Play?
Then, we open the conversation up to a broader discussion of why there seems to be a lack of creativity in the modern summer blockbuster. Does everything really have to be a sequel or a remake?
