That’s right, folks. We’re here…the NFL season kicks off tonight, and I’ve got my 2019 NFL record predictions. Observations
*I guess the NFC South is going to be the best division in all of football. I like the Saints and Falcons to both make deep runs this season. The Saints are the most complete team in football, but I like the strides the Falcons made to get their offense back to Super Bowl form. With some improvement on the Falcons, defense I think you’re looking at the two best teams in the NFC.
*I have a sinking feeling that the Rams are going to come back down to Earth a bit. That reflected in my game picks – offensive line questions and the defensive turnover are reason for concern. Plus, I think that division is going to be better than people are expecting.
*I’m also a lot higher on the Buffalo Bills than I even realized. I like Sean McDermott, I like that defense, and I like the progression of Josh Allen. It’s a weak division – I think they’ll beat up on the Jets and Dolphins, and steal a few big games. They’re my surprise team in the AFC this year – sorry, Browns fans.
*Sorry, Vikings fans. I guess I hate your team. Didn’t realize I did.
*I really like the Ravens. That’s going to be a strong running game, and with Lamar Jackson’s improvement in the passing game and the addition of some pieces on offense, I like ’em to take the next step. I really don’t like the AFC North as much as others. The Bengals are primed to be one of the worst teams in football, and I’m not sold on the Browns or Steelers this year.
*I think 2019 will be the year we thought the 49ers were going to have last year.
*If you would’ve asked me before picking the games, my initial thoughts would’ve been “two teams from the AFC South are getting in the playoffs.” After picking the games, that looks stupid. I think these teams are going to beat up on each other, but there are too many question marks for them to rise above some of the teams from other divisions who will be competing for wild cards.
The 2020 NFL Draft order based off of this would be:
- Cincinnati Bengals
- Miami Dolphins
- Oakland Raiders
- Denver Broncos
- Arizona Cardinals
