Poppa Bear’s CFB Picks Against the Spread Week 2

Hey guys! Poppa Bear here. Now that college football is back into full swing, I thought we could discuss one of my favorite parts of the season: gambling. Every week, I’ll be picking 25 college games against the spread and sharing them with you. In the spirit of total transparency, I’ll keep up with my win/loss record as the season progresses.

Last week, I went 14 for 25, for a 56% winning rate. Not an ideal start, but last week had some ridiculous upsets and late covers. That’s the just way things go out here in the mean streets. Let’s have a look at Week 2 in the college football world.

1. Ohio State -16 vs. Cincinnati. Cincinnati is a good squad, but Ohio State runs up the score.

2. Army +23 vs. Michigan. Army grinds and Michigan always starts slow. Three touchdowns is a lot.

3. Iowa -20 vs. Rutgers. Iowa should dominate the line of scrimmage.

4. Maryland +2 vs. Syracuse. This line has jumped everywhere. If you can still get Maryland +points, take it.

5. Utah -22 vs. NIU. Utah turned it on late against BYU, should do the same against NIU. (That rhymed.)

6. Texas A&M +18 vs. Clemson. Last year was close, and I’m not sure Clemson is 18 points better than the Aggies.

7. Wisconsin -35 vs. Central Michigan. Jonathon Taylor might score 35 by himself.

8. Colorado +4.5 vs. Nebraska. The Cornhuskers didn’t look great in week one.

9. New Mexico State +54 vs. Alabama. Alabama rarely covers these major FCS point spreads.

10. BYU +3 vs. Tennessee. How is BYU giving up points here?

11. SMU -4 vs. North Texas. SMU might get torched here, but they played well last week, so, who knows.

12. UCF -10 vs. Florida Atlantic. The FAU magic season of 2 years ago is long gone.

13. San Jose State +6.5 vs. Tulsa. Tulsa is still reeling from last week.

14. LSU -5 vs. Texas. LSU looks to be the real deal. At least a touchdown victory.

15. Arkansas State +2 vs. UNLV

16. Oregon -23 vs. Nevada. Rebound game to send a message. A LOT of points for Oregon.

17. Penn State -29.5 vs. Buffalo. Explosive offense vs. weak defense. Penn State might score 30 before half.

18. Tulane +18 vs. Auburn. Big emotional game last week, slight let down this week. And Tulane plays some good football.

19. Michigan State -16 vs. Western Michigan. Western Michigan might not score on State’s nasty defense.

20. Washington -14 vs. California. Cal doesn’t have the offense that Washington does, or the defense.

21. Stanford +2.5 vs. USC. USC lost its starting QB and turned the ball over a lot. Stanford wins outright.

22. Missouri -14 vs. West Virginia. An ugly loss for Missouri last week, but WVU doesn’t have much in the tank this season.

23. Vanderbilt +7.5 vs. Purdue. Vanderbilt was better than the score last week and Purdue collapsed.

24. Georgia Tech -6 vs. South Florida. Both teams got demolished in week one, but USF’s offensive line is atrocious.

25. Ole Miss -7 vs. Arkansas. Losing to Memphis isn’t horrible and I don’t think Arkansas is back yet.

Let’s for playing along and we’ll see you next week! (Please gamble responsibly. If you lose money following my picks, that’s just how it goes. If you win, send me money.)
