You Haven’t Seen Class Like Derek Carr in the Monday Night Press Conference

This whole Antonio Brown situation has been a downright circus. People have asked, “Stoney, why haven’t you written about this?” The easy answer is, “well, a lot of this shit has developed on the weekends, and I’ve tried to rededicate myself to the idea of spending time with my loved ones and not working on the weekends.” But, truthfully, it’s such a complex issue that I really don’t know where to start. Part of me, like others, thinks there’s some serious mental health issues going on with AB. Part of me thinks it’s all just an act to get what he wants. Now that he’s been accused of sexual assault, I don’t imagine Brown’s issues are going to simplify at all. Regardless, Derek Carr is shining this week as a solid example of how to handle such adversity.

Holy shit, guys. That is how you handle a circus like this. Derek Carr, in this press conference, is class personified.

He could’ve gotten up there and blasted AB and I think most football fans would think he’d have every right to do so. But, he didn’t. He complimented AB. Said he loved him, said he cherished their time together, and that he’s going to tell his kids one day that he got to throw the ball to him. Really good stuff. Bravo.

Hopefully, the Raiders can move on from all of this nonsense. There’s plenty for them to be happy about now. Tyrell Williams looks like he could be their #1 guy. Joshua Jacobs showed out in his NFL debut. Carr had one of Pro Football Focus’ highest graded quarterback performances this week.

Lots of wins for the Raiders in Week 1. AB is the Patriots’ headache to deal with now.
