Georgia Store Is Removing Irish Spring From Shelves Because of the Notre Dame Game

Big game in college football this week. The #3 ranked Georgia Bulldogs are two touchdown favorites at home against the #7 ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish. In the grand landscape of the College Football Playoff race, this could very well be a de facto elimination game. Personally, I think the key to the game is going to be how the Irish manage to stack up on defense against that Bulldogs ground attack. Georgia has like a million backs that could gash the Irish. But, if they can somehow slow that down, they might stand a chance. If Jake Fromm has to throw, the Irish have a talented to secondary to meet him and that matchup could be fun to watch. And, apparently, the famous soap, Irish Spring, is getting caught up in all the fanfare.

Y’all, I can’t.

Yo, let’s give Dill’s some credit for pulling off one of the greatest marketing moves of the year. Because, guess what! No matter how you feel about the game, we’re sittin’ here talkin’ about Dill’s grocery store. Never heard of that place, and from the looks of that logo, they could stand to bring in a graphic designer. So, to get this kind of advertising out there across the south, hey kudos!

But, NEWSFLASH PAL: Irish Spring soap is not affiliated with Notre Dame. Moreover, it is a fantastic product. I only use it in the spring time when the weather is warming up and I want to feel and smell as fresh as the new lawn coming to life. But, the bigger picture here is, your attempt to stifle the Irish Spring has only strengthened my love for it.

If I were a Notre Dame fan, I would take a truck load of Irish Spring and stand there, bottle by bottle, dumping right in the floor of Dill’s market. I’m sure that’s legal. No worries.

Wait…is this reverse marketing? Y’know…like reverse psychology? ‘Cause it just hit me…we’re talking about Dill’s AND Irish Spring soap.

Wait…is there a football game this week or something?
