Welcome to NFL DFS advice for the Buccaneers at Titans matchup during Week 8 of the 2019 season. Every week, Joshua Huffman will preview some of the main participants from the Tennessee Titans games. These guides will include player pricing, injuries, potential mismatches, and anything else players should consider when choosing players from Tennessee and/or their opponents.

Buccaneers at Titans: Key Players & Pricing

  • Derrick Henry ($6000)
  • Ryan Tannehill (5100)
  • Corey Davis (4400)
  • A.J. Brown (4100)
  • Adam Humphries (3900)
  • Delanie Walker (3600)
  • Tajae Sharpe (3200)
  • Titans D/ST (3200)
  • Jonnu Smith (2800)
  • Chris Godwin ($7100)
  • Mike Evans (6600)
  • Jameis Winston (5900)
  • Ronald Jones II (4300)
  • Peyton Barber (4000)
  • O.J. Howard (3300)
  • Dare Ogunbowale (3200)
  • Cameron Brate (2700)
  • D/ST (2500)

Buccaneers at Titans: Injury Report

  • Titans CB Adoree’ Jackson is day-to-day with a foot injury that he suffered last week. If he doesn’t play, that creates a significant downgrade as to who’ll potentially cover Buccaneers WR Evans. While WR Godwin has currently eclipsed Evans as the No. 1 WR in terms of production, Godwin spends nearly two-thirds of his snaps at slot receiver (PFF). Evans would have the opportunity to take advantage of a cornerback duo potentially consisting of Malcolm Butler (inconsistent) and LeShaun Sims (downgrade).
  • Titans TE Walker left last week’s game with an ankle injury. He has been battling injuries for the last two seasons. Keep an eye on this injury. Tennessee’s TE position could see production.

Buccaneers at Titans: Lines (As of Oct. 23)

  • Titans (-2.5)
  • Over/Under 45.5 to 46

Buccaneers at Titans: NFL DFS Advice

  • Expect this game to play AROUND to OVER 45.5 to 46. Tennessee’s offense looked more potent with the quarterback chance from Marcus Mariota to Tannehill. Tampa Bay has surrendered nearly 31 points per game. If Titans CB Jackson remains out with a foot injury, it creates a vulnerability against a Buccaneers offense that heavily relies on its passing game due to having no running game and often falling behind early in games. Regardless of whether this hits over or just gets close to it, this game has a lot of intrigue that all DFS players should focus on.
  • An offense’s No. 1 weapon against arguably the NFL’s worst defense? Not necessarily. Buccaneers defensive coordinator Todd Bowles has coached this unit into having the No. 1 run defense. Look at how they bottled up Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffery in two games (38 carries for 68 yards). Henry offers little to no PPR upside. This is a game that one should put faith into Tennessee’s passing offense.
  • Tampa Bay’s run defense means that Tennessee becomes forced into relying on QB Tannehill ($5100). Kind of like when a $5200 Kirk Cousins was forced to sling it around the field because of the Philadelphia Eagle’s dominant run defense. Titans WR Davis is possibly my favorite play on the entire slate. A $4400 WR whose opportunities have been limited because of quarterback play, Davis has showcased a strong rapport with his new quarterback. In their first start together, Davis had six receptions for 80 yards and a touchdown against a much better opposing secondary.

Tannehill ($5100) and Davis ($4400) provide incredible value. WR Brown ($4100) comes off a performance with a career high eight targets. You could play all three of these players in the same lineup. Davis and Brown already have one game where they both exceeded 20 DraftKings points in the same game (Atlanta Falcons).
  • If you’re into “revenge game” theory, then Titans WR Humphries spent his first four seasons with Tampa Bay. His production has picked up in recent games. If he can score a touchdown, then he has a potential ceiling around the upper-teens, maybe even lower-20s. He’s worth trying but please remember that, as far as priorities are concerned, he’s pretty far down the pecking order. WR Davis and WR Brown have more upside because they’re the biggest playmakers and featured more often in the offense.
  • As mentioned under “Injury Report,” WR Evans should see more benefit if CB Jackson is out. WR Godwin spends most of his time in the slot. He’d likely see trusty SCB Logan Ryan along with the rest of the safety tandem. As Godwin is averaging an insane 26.2 DraftKings points per game, he’s at a peak price point and poised for a regression. Evans is at a lower price point and due for a progression.
  • When QB Winston is slinging the ball, there’s always defensive scoring potential. While Tennessee isn’t the most opportunistic defense, this is a solid spot. Their $3200 price tag is reasonable. I could see Winston forcing throws to Evans with Kevin Byard jumping in front and taking one back. If you can’t pay up for New England’s defense against the Cleveland Browns ($4300), then Tennessee could provide a great option.

As for Tampa Bay’s defense…no. Little to no turnover potential. No chance of them holding Tennessee to fewer than 14 points. Without Mariota, even the sack potential is reduced.
  • For DFS purposes, I love this game. You’ll rarely see me type that about a Titans matchup. The problem is that it may end up too good. There are too many options that can vulture off one another. Will anyone break free to have that 5x value? Or will Tannehill distribute the wealth evenly among his WRs and TEs?

WR Davis has massive potential. WR Brown has a high ceiling. WR Humphries could reach a 20. WR Sharpe is more of a guy who, much like last week, could play the role of vulture. If Tampa Bay falls behind early (as they usually do), then WR Evans and TE Howard are at low price points in surprisingly decent matchups. Tennessee’s D/ST has potential for double-digit scoring. WR Godwin has been on a roll.

Stack this game. Play individual assets. This is a potential gold mine for incredible value at low price points.
