Welcome in to the 2019 NFL MVP Watch, where I will be taking a look around the landscape of the MVP race in the NFL this season. This is pretty much the same thing as my Heisman Watch, sooooo…like, do I want to spend a lot of time on an intro?

Shit, I guess I will for the uninitiated – each week, I will count down the five most MVP-worthy performances of the week and offer up my reasoning for each ranking. You finish first, you get five points. Second is four, so on and so forth. I will keep the season point totals going at the bottom of the article and at the end of the season, whoever has the most points gets the 2019 SoBros Network NFL MVP “honors.”

2019 NFL MVP WATCH: WEEK 7

5. Chase Edmonds, Cardinals RB – I’ve written about how Kyler Murray and Kliff Kingsbury have transformed the Arizona Cardinals in a single season, but let’s give some love to Chase Edmonds. Dude WENT OFF on Sunday, getting 27 carries for 127 yards and THREE touchdowns against the New York Giants.

4. Ezekiel Elliott, Cowboys RB – The Cowboys loaded up and absolutely pounded the Philadelphia Eagles to take hold of the NFC East on Sunday Night Football. Leading the charge was their workhorse running back, who got 22 carries that amassed 111 yards and a touchdown. It was the third time this season Elliott averaged five or more yards per carry. Not to mention he had six receptions as well. When he’s on, he’s one of the best in the league. He’s quietly crept into the top five in rushing.

3. Dalvin Cook, Vikings RB – With 725 yards on the season, Cook is now in the driver’s seat for the 2019 rushing title. In the big win over the Detroit Lions, Cook ran 25 times for 142 yards (5.7 YPC) and two touchdowns. He’s only been kept out of the end zone in one game this season.

2. Kirk Cousins, Vikings QB – Whatever clicked for Cousins has made him one of the hottest quarterbacks in the league. The Vikings are 3-0 in their last three, averaging 36 points per game in the process.

1. Aaron Rodgers, Packers QB – What is there to say about Aaron Rodgers that hasn’t already been said before? Against a solid Oakland Raiders team, he went 25/31 for 429 yards and FIVE touchdowns – tack on the “old man” finding the end zone on the ground, and the man had SIX total touchdowns in a historic performance.
