Our 2019 ‘Friend of the Brand’ and Supporter’s Shield Nominees

It’s officially SoBros Awards season – in the coming days, we’ll be announcing all of the nominees for the 2019 SoBros Awards. We’re kicking things off with the 2nd annual ‘Friend of the Brand’ Award and the third annual Supporter’s Shield.

The ‘Friend of the Brand’ Award is used to recognize fellow content creators or professionals who we’ve worked alongside or who have supported us and promoted us on their platform this year.

The Supporter’s Shield is a special recognition of those of you who regularly keep up with SoBros Network, engage with us, support us, and even motivate us when times get tough and we may not feel quite like doing what we do. You guys are the backbone of “SoBros Nation.”

These two awards are voted upon strictly by the SoBros team. No open Google Form for these two, folks.

The 2019 ‘Friend of the Brand’ Award Nominees

Brittney Baird – We could’ve nominated all of WKRN’s Good Morning Nashville team again this year, as they are the reigning ‘Friend of the Brand’ Award recipients after all. But, really – Brittney has been so supportive of us, kind and thoughtful, and just generally helpful, that I think she’s entered a class of her own.

Allan Bell – We have to recognize the work Allan has put in this year, as he’s one of the best NFL follows on Twitter. He is absolutely killing it over at SportsLine, has always been a friend of the brand, and has been quick to offer encouraging words to us along the way.

Our lawyers – Big time shout out to our lawyers, who helped us in a big way this year, though I never actually followed up to confirm whether or not I could legally nominate them for such an award.

Southern Underground Pro – It goes without saying that at this point, SoBros Network and SUP are family. I know we’re all incredibly proud of the work that team has done in Nashville, and are always grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with them. They’ve become engrained in our history, and we wouldn’t have gotten half the wrestling content we have without them.

Wrestling Cheers – Justin and crew are doing excellent work up there in the Northeast Ohio area, but Wrestling Cheers, through sponsoring SUP shows with us, is helping support the independent wrestling scene in Nashville, too. It’s crazy to think about how simply creating #content can bring people together, but I think I speak for our entire team when I say we’re all grateful that creating #content brought us together with Wrestling Cheers.

Honorable Mentions: The entire WKRN GMN crew (I promise I’m gonna get that Anchorman Street Fight, Part 2 written at some point), Steven Whitehouse & Friends, Room In the Inn, J.R. Lind, Paul Heggen, HasBeen Sports, Matt Boyd, Dennis Kelly, Deja Vu (yes – the gentleman’s club…y’all might’ve missed that story…), Nashville Repertory Theatre, The Scenic City Invitational crew, the Chattanooga Film Festival, the Atlanta Film Festival, Paradigm Pro Wrestling, Football & Other F Words, B-Boy, Ray Maloney, Antlerhead, the Corner Pub Mount Juliet, Stoney Jones, Reno and Matt @ Buffalo’s, Delia Jo @ Eater Nashville, Nectar: Urban Cantina, Joel Diggs, and Eddie George.

Finally, I want to say thanks to the wrestlers out there who were kind enough to lend us some time for interviews on Checks and Championships: Alex Zayne, The Smokin’ Budz, Doug Markham, Brett Ison, B-Boy, Manders, O’Shay Edwards, IFHY, Daniel Makabe, A.C. Mack, Bradley Prescott IV, Dominic Garrini, and Jaden Newman.

We’ll announce the winners of both of these awards as apart of our 2019 SoBros Awards Ceremony (date, time, and venue TBD).
