Review: Applebee’s $1 Vampire

I am a sucker for a themed cocktail, and even more so when it’s the Halloween season. So when I came across the advertisement for Applebee’s Dollar Vampire, I immediately sent a text to everyone I know. One dollar for a cocktail? I was ready to get kicked out of Applebee’s. I was ready to see how many I could drink before eventually dying of alcohol poisoning. But, here we are in the last week of October and I still haven’t tried this damn drink.

Well, last Sunday, my partner and I are picking up some last minute costume essentials and we start to get a little hungry. He asks what I want to eat. Most of the time I have no answer and throw a “whatever you’re feeling” at him and he gets frustrated. But not today! We are going to Applebee’s and I’m getting my Vampire.

We drive across town to the ONLY Applebee’s in Nashville and join the after church crowd. The restaurant is all decked out in Halloween decor and I’m loving it. I order my Dollar Vampire and our waitress gets slammed with more lunch patrons. I can see my drink sitting at the bar for a good ten minutes before she finally brings it to me.

The drink has been advertised with a pair of plastic vampire teeth, however the one I ordered didn’t come with them. I don’t mind though, because it’s less plastic and I probably have a few extras around the house somewhere. The drink is advertised as being “made with rum, strawberry, passion fruit, dragon fruit, and pineapple juice” and I taste all of that. Especially the rum part. It’s delicious, purple, cheap and everything I hoped for.

Then I order another one.

All in all, if you love themed drinks, and enjoy getting buzzed for $2, I definitely recommend giving it a try. I might be a little bit of a lightweight, so you may need to order more than two.

Only a couple of days left!
