It’s been a long time comin’ – we’ve been talking about resurrecting the podcast that started it all for the SoBros Network all the way back in 2013. It was the wild, wild west – no holds barred, anything goes. I fondly recall the Russian cemetery brawl story, What Corey Did This Weekend, The Jiffy News, and all of the nuggets of life advice we shared.
We cut the Power Hour because it became hard to get everyone together…plus, the “Power Hour” cliché felt a little played out. We tried launching a new, more refined version of the show – The SoBros Variety Show – but it never packed the same punch. Eventually, “The SoBros Podcast” was born, but we never really did anything with the property. It became our place to just dump any other show that didn’t fit into one of the established shows.
Earlier this year, I went to the team and just said, “we never should’ve cut the Power Hour,” and that’s when the gears started turning. I said, “fuck it – it was fun…that was as pure SoBros as it gets. It’s coming back.”
So, here we are. The Power Hour, in all its glory, is back. On the first episode, we revive The Jiffy News so that you can head into your weekend with the most important news stories of the week even though I wrote the agenda for this show a month ago when we were actually supposed to record it but I’ve actually been sick for two months so we didn’t.
Brandon and I chat about tanning our buttholes, damp Papa John, robot police dogs, Nashville hot pumpkin pie, and Jerry Lawler NOT painting a cat.
Then, it’s on to judging the 2019 SoBros Network beard competition, AND looking at the decade in review in Nashville. It’s a blasty blast.
