Welcome to NFL DFS advice for the Titans at Patriots AFC Wild Card matchup during the 2019-20 season. These guides will include player pricing, injuries, potential mismatches, and anything else players should consider when choosing players from Tennessee and/or their opponents.

Titans at Patriots: Injury Report

  • Titans CB Adoree’ Jackson was a full participant for his first two days of practice. If he returns, he’d provide a huge boost for a defensive backfield that has been torched during his absence. That said, CB Logan Ryan should see the most of Patriots WR Edelman.
  • Titans WR Humphries continues to miss practice because of an ankle. Even if his inactive status continues, he has been a minor part of the offense.
  • Patriots WR Edelman has battled knee and shoulder injuries throughout the entire season. While he’d almost certainly play, his production was dropped off a little over the past few weeks.
  • Patriots DBs Jason McCourty and Jonathan Jones are both limited participants with groin injuries. Since Week 11, that injury has kept McCourty out for all but nine snaps.

Titans at Patriots: Lines (As of Jan. 1)

  • Patriots (-5 to -5.5)
  • Over/Under 44
  • Expect this game to play UNDER to AROUND 44. This New England team relies heavily on its defense. Their secondary should force Tennessee into playing more of a game-management style with RB Henry. Patriots CB Stephon Gilmore should give them a good chance of containing Titans WR Brown. Since New England has been playing with an injured WR Edelman and a bunch of new wide receivers who haven’t created any useful chemistry with QB Brady, the offense has never recovered from former TE Rob Gronkowski’s retirement.

Titans at Patriots NFL DFS Advice

(Ryan Tannehill): Since Week 7, Tannehill has been the NFL’s highest rated passer among starters. He’s facing one of the NFL’s best pass defenses in a game where early forecasts call for showers. This game feels more like a RB Henry type of game, however, if you’re thinking that New England jumps out to a big lead early, then it forces Tennessee into more passing situations. He’s playable but there are more intriguing options (e.g. Drew Brees $6600 at home vs Vikings).

(James White, Rex Burkhead): The Achilles’ heel of Tennessee’s defense has been versatile running backs. Alvin Kamara, Christian McCaffery, Austin Ekeler, and even Leonard Fournette during garbage time had huge stat lines that were inflated with gaudy PPR stats. New England’s issue is that they implement a three-man committee where Burkhead and White share receiver duties. This limits their upside.

New England should attack Tennessee’s defense with RB White. Because he often receives fewer than five carries per game, it makes him touchdown dependent.

(Derrick Henry): With New England’s defensive backfield and a potentially rainy forecast, there’s no need to ignore the NFL’s rushing champion. That said, first priority goes toward spending $9300 for New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas. Higher floor and higher ceiling.

(Julian Edelman): The clear leader of a depleted New England receiver corps. Despite playing through injuries all season, Edelman finished with 100 receptions for 1,117 yards. In 2018 vs Tennessee, Edelman had nine receptions for 104 yards.

(Jonnu Smith): This is a game where Tennessee could’ve strongly benefited from TE Delanie Walker. With New England having a slew of cornerbacks (some possibly returning from injury) who can limit what Tannehill can get from his wide receivers, Smith should get plenty of opportunities. Before Week 17, Smith had three straight games with x>=11.9 DK points. When Tennessee defeated New England 34-10 in 2018, Smith had three catches for 45 yards and a touchdown.

(D/ST): Meh. Saints ($3000) and Houston Texans (2400) are options that provide greater upside. New England and Tennessee would battle the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles for the next tier. The Seattle Seahawks are a no. If you’re thinking about playing Minnesota Vikings…well…good luck.

(Summary): With a struggling New England offense desperately searching for life, look for New England to rely on what it knows best: its veterans. QB Brady, RB White, and WR Edelman. If Patriots coach Bill Belichick focuses on taking away Titans WR Brown, then Tennessee’s offense could look more toward TE Smith or even WR Davis (last year’s game: seven receptions for 125 yards and a touchdown). If Belichick sells out against RB Henry, then Tannehill has a chance to shine with a passing attack spread to numerous different receivers.
