TWE held one of their biggest shows of the year this past weekend down in Chattanooga. Title matches, an internet breaking singles match, and an all out fist fight in the main event. What I’m saying is that this show started off hot hot hot and never let off of the gas.
TWE Tag Team Championship- The Youngbloodz (Spoony Mack and Octavious Black) (c) vs. IFHY (Johnathan Wolf and Tyler Matrix): I (along with the crowd) had an absolute blast with this one. No matter what variation of the IFHY crew you get, you will be entertained. You will not be surprised to find out that Wolf and Matrix 10000% brought it. There were a couple of times when it legit felt like IFHY had this in the bag. That’s saying something against the Youngbloodz who have really run roughshod over the tag team division at TWE for quite some time. After surviving everything IFHY threw at them including a disgusting spiked tombstone, Spoony and Big O retain. Legit MOTN contender right here.
AC Mack vs. Kody Manhorn: For the uninitiated “The Coach” Kody Manhorn brings a ton of energy through squats. He asks, nay, he demands, that you squat. This was never gonna happen with AC Mack. Mack is a man that listens to no one. So, with the crowd absolutely losing their minds, Manhorn took his squatting powers to Mack. In no uncertain terms, he squatted onto Mack’s head. It was hilarious and more importantly, the crowd absolutely loved it. Sadly, the finish of the match wouldn’t go as well for Manhorn. With no dick kick or anything of the like, Mack got this win in a very competitive contest.
Tank vs. Uncle Byff: This was just a good old fashioned grudge match. Big strikes followed by…well…more big strikes. At one point, Byff was just chucking chairs in the ring all ECW like. After inflicting an enormous amount of punishment on each other, Tank ends up getting the 1-2-3. Anytime you have these two facing off and we make it out of the building with nobody getting maimed, it is a huge success.
Scramble- Patrick Heeter vs. Adam Priest vs. Trevor Aeon vs. ‘Hot Tamale’ Daniel Perez vs. Rob Killjoy vs. Kaden Sade vs. Ruthless Lala vs. Tyler Franks: I can’t even attempt to explain what happened with all of this talent facing off. I enjoy a good scramble because of the possibilities of seeing in match matchups that we may normally not get. Adam Priest squaring up with Lala was one of those moments. Also, I want to give Kaden Sade a big shoutout. I love the energy he brings, not to mention he just downright crushes it in the ring. Would love to see him more. After some big boots along with some real nasty offense, it felt like Heeter may steal this one. Not on this night though, as Trevor Aeon snags the big win with a heck of a performance.
Jayke Murphy vs. Erron Wade: Murphy has had a lot going on at TWE lately. He abruptly walked out a few weeks ago only to show back up later in the night. Because of this, I wasn’t sure what to expect from Jayke in this matchup with Erron Wade. Murphy had more of an edge, but to Wade’s credit, he took everything Jayke had for him and brought the fight right back to him. The match would end in controversy, though. Wade got the cover, but before the three count, Murphy got a foot on the ropes. It wasn’t seen by the ref leading to Wade technically getting the win. Post match, Murphy attacked, even forcing Wade to submit. It will be interesting to see the thoughts of both men in the coming weeks.
TWE Championship- Brett Ison (c) vs. Jay Sparkz: The rematch the fans of TWE were ready for. The two faced off in the finals of the championship tourney last month before the match went to a no contest. Warden Ray Fury started the match back to a raucous response. Brett won leading us here. This match was hot, hot, hot. The two threw big boy shots from the start. Back and forth we went, with both men dropping the other at times. Sparkz hit a nasty kick to the back of the head of the Pitbull, then followed that up with a cannonball that may have moved the ring over slightly to the left. Ison would come back, then hit his big knee in the corner before following that up with the face eraser. That was this entire fight though. Give and take. Back and forth. Who can survive the best shot the other could throw? We got our answer after a violent Special Knee Cannon. Brett Ison retains after another night of kill or be killed.
I Quit Match- Jaden Newman vs. Bailey Blake: I’m not sure there is a more storied rivalry in TWE than Jaden and Bailey. These two hate each other. With everything that has gone down between the two, the only way to settle it was gonna have to be the I Quit match. This one lived up to the lofty expectations in a big way. The list of objects used in this match varied from a bucket to a king’s scepter. Yes, you read that right. We also got some blood, which this match was absolutely destined for. The TWE crowd got everything they wanted including a win by Number One himself Jaden Newman. Post match, Roger Cantrell turned his back on Bailey, even going as far as putting on Blake’s crown/cape. To everyone’s surprise, Newman returned to chase off Cantrell. What a scene.
I’ve gotta say from start to finish this was one of the most fun TWE cards I’ve been at. There was something for everyone on this card with a lot to like. TWE returns to the TWE Arena in Red Bank, TN on February 22!
