Nashville Reviews: MAFIAoZA’s

On the latest edition of Nashville Reviews, "Big Natural" Stoney Keeley heads out to Franklin for some pizza at MAFIAoZA's.

Guys….full disclosure here. I had absolutely no intention of writing a review of my recent experience at MAFIAoZA’s out in Franklin. My girlfriend, my mother, and I were ready to get up and head down to Chattanooga for a nice little day trip when inclement weather kept us from making it up and down Monteagle. As a consolation prize, we decided we’d spend the day driving around Franklin (since the weather was still beautiful here in Nashville).

I’m trying….I mean, really trying…to be better about working. Those of you who know me and are around me quite a bit probably get tired of me tying every discussion back to SoBros Network. So, imagine how my girlfriend and my family feels! I was bent on having a nice family day and not doing any sort of writing or #content whatsoever.

But, when we landed on MAFIAoZA’s as a lunch spot, my girlfriend was actually the one that spoke up and said, “you gotta add this to your list of Nashville reviews…

Well, DAMN BABE, now I feel like I HAVE to write this review. If not, I’m an idiot. I’m being lazy. If I don’t write this review of this pizza, I’m going to be left in the dust in the content game. I can’t let that happen.

So, here we are. That was a really longwinded way of explaining why I only have two shitty pictures of this wonderful pizza. This wasn’t brought up to me until we were halfway through our pizza. And, no, I don’t eat my crust.

Food: 8.5/10 – The food is absolutely the fastball of this place. It is just so damn good. We got started with the ravioli sticks, and probably could’ve just made a meal out of it – crispy breading, smooth and creamy cheese, with a nice marinara sauce to dip in. Then, for pizza, we got half sausage and pepperoni and half sausage, onions, and peppers. I probably would’ve given this a nine, but the pepperoni was just a tad too greasy for my liking. The sausage, onion, and pepper half was pure perfection.

Booze: 7.1/10 – Anywhere I can get an ice cold Peroni with my pizza is going to rank high on my list. I am told (by my girlfriend) that the wine list was, and I quote, “pretty good.” Not to mention, they had some fun festive seasonal cocktails that made me think this might be a fun little place to toss back a few.

Value: 5/10 – It’s very much “you get what you pay for.” It’s not going to be a quick, cheap meal. But, it’s also not unreasonable given the quality of the food. It’s right there in the middle…that “fair is fair” territory.

Atmosphere: 4.5/10 – It was fine….”fine” is a good word for it. I mean, it’s a pizza place. You’re not going to go to a pizza place for the ambience. It was perfect for what we were looking for that day. The Franklin location is huge, but it’s not really near anything unless you want to go kill some time at The Factory. The 12 South location is DEFINITELY where you want to go if you’re looking for a good meal to kick off a night of debauchery.

Overall: 6.28/10 – This may be a hot take, but I don’t really think there’s a good pizza scene here in Nashville. Five Points has the crown, in my opinion, but I’m putting MAFIAoZA’s right there in the top 2-5 discussion. It gets the big thumbs up from me.
