Last week, the Tennessee Titans announced that they had agreed to terms to bring back tight end Anthony Firkser for another year. I love the move. This guy was a key contributor on the Titans postseason run, and could be a valuable asset moving forward.
In 2019, Firkser caught 14 balls for 204 yards and a touchdown. But, he really dialed it up when the Titans traveled to play the New England Patriots in the first round of the playoffs, catching a significant touchdown in that game. He also caught a touchdown against the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship. I mean, is it too early to call the guy “Mr. January” or what?!?!

Okay, but now that we know Anthony Firkser is coming back for another year, it’s on to the next big question: can we please agree on a nickname for the guy?
Every player has to have a good nickname if they’re going to be a difference-maker for the team. That’s the secret ingredient, baby – you have a nickname and I swear it’s like a key to unlocking potential. Look what happened once the nation finally embraced ‘King Henry.’ The thing about Firkser, though….is that people can’t even get his regular name right.
I mean, you would think announcers, analysts, and pundits alike are reading a foreign language when they try to pronounce ‘Firkser.’ It ain’t like it’s that hard of a name either. I forget who it was, but some national media guy called him ‘Firkster,’ and that just stuck with me – “The Firkster.”
Doesn’t it just sound like some badass hot rod you’d see barreling down the road? Engine roaring like the king of the fucking jungle!
If you’re asking me, that’s what I’m going to unofficially officially endorse. But, I think we should always be open to other things. That’s called science and progress, people. So, I would love to hear some of your suggestions for Anthony Firkser’s nickname.
