Jadeveon Clowney has had one of the more interesting career trajectories in the NFL. Early on in his football career, he was considered a can’t-miss prospect, a blue chipper, and an absolute freak of nature. Injuries marred his final year at South Carolina, and his rookie season with the Houston Texans. But, by his third year in the league, he finally started to become that disruptive force we thought he could be.

Now, Clowney finds himself a free agent in the NFL, and multiple teams are jockeying for positioning to land the guy. The Tennessee Titans are one of the teams rumored to be in the mix, and in my opinion, what Clowney does best is the missing ingredient on this team.

He can line up in multiple spots, draw double teams, win one on one matchups, collapse pockets, force errant and rushed throws, and clog up running lanes. He’ll get a few sacks and a few TFLs, but the bulk of what he does best won’t show up on the stat lines. With some of the young play-makers behind him and the familiarity that Mike Vrabel has with Clowney, this looks like a great landing spot for him. With him, I think the Titans are a legitimate Super Bowl contender with their offense largely intact.
