Gotta say – the postal workers out there are having themselves quite a couple of weeks. First, we saw a postal worker hijack a Tik Tok video and ended up dropping the hottest cut of the pandemic so far. Now, we have Mailman Josh out here taking care of the 2020 grads, and trying to spread some love to some kids who need it after being deprived of an awful lot of things that high school seniors ought to be able to treasure for their entire lives.
It completely blows. But, at least there are people out there trying to make things better. You read every day about the parades, the gifts, everything that people are doing to help things suck a little bit less for the 2020 grads. Mailman Josh here is just another example of that helping spirit…giving out $5 Dunkin’ Donuts gift cards and dropping ’em in mailboxes.
“$5 isn’t much, but it’s something so that the kids can get out of the house and go get a donut and an iced coffee,” Crowell, 39, told CNN. He also leaves a hand-written note with the gift card, he said, congratulating the 2020 graduate, signing off the note as “your mailman Josh.”
So, Mailman Josh here has handed out 25 cards and keeps some on deck just in case. Not to mention, this is going on up in New Hampshire. The Dunkin’ Donuts in the northeast are infinitely better than the Dunkin’ Donuts we have down here in Tennessee. I’ve had some coffee from area Dunkin’ Donuts and it tasted like dirt water. Up there, it’s a whole different ball game.
Is it the same as getting prom or graduation back? Hell no – but man, this is a nice treat. $5 ought to get you a nice cup of coffee and a good donut.
As nice as this sounds, I think it’s fair to start asking what the real end game is here for the postal workers. What are they trying to distract us from by doing super nice things and creating really fun content? Now, more than ever, we need to be asking these questions. Just some food for thought.
