My voyage throughout the Nashville food truck scene continues today as I’m going to share with you guys a heavenly treat from the Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop. My girlfriend and I chased this one down a few Saturdays ago and found it parked out in Mount Juliet – the truck serves up the little personal pies, which is what we got. I went with key lime (big time key lime guy), and the girlfriend went with the coconut cream pie.
But, it looks like Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop has locations in Murfreesboro and in Franklin, in addition to the truck. There, they serve up full pies….which sounds like a challenge to me. Could I take down one of these bad boys alone? Stay tuned. For more info, check out their website!

Food: 8.1/10 – The key to a good key lime pie, in my opinion, is getting the flavor right without being too tart. For my money, this is the best key lime flavor I’ve ever had. It was good and creamy – the texture of the pie was perfect…a good creamy mouthfeel to it…it didn’t crumb up and fall apart. It wasn’t dry. It was as good a pie as I’ve ever had. The coconut cream pie was rich and creamy – big fan of coconut flavor anything, so that hit the sweet spot. The texture on it was just as good as the key lime pie. Elite level desserts.
Value: 5/10 – Very fair prices. No complaints here – $15 (tip included) for dessert for two people might seem a little steep, but you’re not going to come out spending much less on dessert anywhere else, unless you’re going to a chain restaurant or something. So, I thought this was a pretty standard issue value.
Overall: 6.55/10 – The best sweets spot around town, in my opinion. It’s dangerous. I catch myself looking for ’em on BestFoodTrucks.com every day and reminding myself that it’s not healthy to eat pie all the time like this. Definitely made me brush up my self-discipline skills.
