Alright, ladies and gentlemen, the 2020 NFL Draft is in the books, so logically the next step is to update the NFL Power Rankings for the first time this year. Everyone knows that power rankings in May always hold water and pan out in the long run, so it’s definitely worth doing and not just a ploy to find something to talk about during the non-#content season. If you want to, check out our latest episode of Sports Punch for more talk on who won and lost this year’s draft. Anyway, I’m going through all 32 teams, so I should just stop writing this intro that no one’s going to read anyway ’cause you’re all just gonna scroll on to the rankings.

NFL Power Rankings: Post-2020 Draft

1. Kansas City Chiefs – The king stay the king. Last I checked, they still have the best quarterback in the league. They still have Andy Reid. They still have Eric Bieniemy. And, they added another big time weapon in Clyde Edwards-Helaire. They’re here until they prove they aren’t the best team in the league.

2. San Francisco 49ers – I hate to go chalk here, but how can you not love how talented and how deep this roster is? They add Javon Kinlaw and Brandon Aiyuk to fortify the defensive line and get what they hope is their true #1 receiver. I’m not ready to relinquish their NFC crown just yet.

3. New Orleans Saints – A lot of people questioned the Saints draft, but honestly – they could’ve skipped it altogether and still had one of the most talented rosters in the league. I love bolstering the interior of the offensive line with Cesar Ruiz, who was easily the best interior o-lineman in the draft, and then STEALING Zack Baun.

4. Buffalo Bills – It’s all going to come down to how far Josh Allen can take this team in 2020, but I think the Bills are poised for a big time run. They add a true #1 receiver in Stefon Diggs, and then draft AJ Epenesa and Zack Moss with their first two picks. Sean McDermott remains one of the most underrated coaches in the league. I like the Bills a lot this season.

5. Baltimore Ravens – I’d be concerned that the Titans laid the blue print for how to beat the Ravens. But, there’s still a lot of talent on that Ravens offense. They’ve fortified the run game, and had what I’d consider the best 2020 draft in the entire NFL.

6. Green Bay Packers – People hating on this year’s Packers draft act like Green Bay isn’t coming off of a season that ended in the NFC Championship. This draft had Matt LaFleur‘s fingerprints all over it. They’re still going to run the ball and play defense in 2020, and they’ll be just fine.

7. Dallas Cowboys – I love the Cowboys loading up on offense, drafting CeeDee Lamb to add to a receiving corps that already has Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup. Then, they lucked into Trevon Diggs in the 2nd round, filling the team’s biggest need. Mike McCarthy ought to have the Cowboys contending for a Super Bowl right away.

8. Tennessee Titans – The Titans bolstered their run game in the draft, taking big thicc boi Isaiah Wilson in the first round, and running back Darrynton Evans in the third. They absolutely lucked into Kristian Fulton in the 2nd round, a cornerback that should help them defend speedy receivers and close the gap on the Chiefs in the AFC. The team that made it to the AFC Championship a season ago remains largely intact.

9. Philadelphia Eagles – The Eagles really gave their offense a shot in the arm during this year’s NFL Draft. They added some speed in a couple of new weapons for Carson Wentz. Most importantly, this team will be healthy when the 2020 season starts.

10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – It’s hard not to love all of the changes that have been made down in Tompa Bay. This team was competitive last season with Jameis Winston at the helm – imagine what it can do with Tom Brady.

11. Seattle Seahawks – Every year, it feels like the Seahawks have a questionable draft, and yet, every year, the Seahawks are right there in the thick of the hunt in the NFC. Maybe it’s time we just stop questioning Pete Carroll‘s method.

12. Indianapolis Colts – Absolutely love what the Colts did in the draft by adding a couple of offensive weapons to surround Philip Rivers with. This Colts team already had one of if not the best offensive line in football, and some good cornerstone pieces on defense. This team is going to be dangerous in 2020.

13. Minnesota Vikings – It’s hard to expect Justin Jefferson to come in right away and fill the shoes of Stefon Diggs. Nonetheless, the Vikings nailed the 2020 draft. Particularly, the additions of Jefferson and Jeff Gladney in the first round.

14. Denver Broncos – The Broncos, led by Drew Lock, were downright scary down the stretch in 2019. They’re going to be a popular pick to be the AFC’s breakout team in 2020 after loading up on weapons for Lock – chief among them Jerry Jeudy and Melvin Gordon.

15. New England Patriots – The Pats are going to shoot up this board if they sign Cam Newton. But, even with the coaching prowess of Bill Belichick, it’s going to be hard for this team to be as successful as they have been with Jarrett Stidham at quarterback. That defense should be good again, but let’s be real – the Pats were helped out big time by a less-than-stellar schedule in 2019.

16. Cleveland Browns – Damn it. I’m going to do it. I’m going to buy in on the Browns in May. I love the addition of Jack Conklin in free agency and the drafting of Jedrick Wills, who in my mind was the best tackle in this draft. That should solidify the offense, and don’t look now, but the Browns have assembled a secondary with some real potential.

17. Atlanta Falcons – The offensive talent has been very very good in Atlanta for a long time now. With key free agent additions and drafting, it looks like the defense has finally gotten a few good pieces of its own.

18. Las Vegas Raiders – I’m not as low on Derek Carr as everyone else. I am high on Henry Ruggs III. I think they’re going to make sweet, sweet beautiful music together in Las Vegas. They’ve quietly put together a good offense.

19. Los Angeles Rams – I love drafting Cam Akers, Van Jefferson, and Terrell Lewis, but this looks like a bit of a reset for a team that is just over a year removed from a Super Bowl appearance. Not to mention, the NFC West is going to be hella competitive this year.

20. Pittsburgh Steelers – I like the Chase Claypool pick, but it sort of feels like the aura of the Steelers is starting to dwindle as we approach the end of the Ben Roethlisberger era in Pittsburgh. In a competitive AFC, it feels like we’re heading towards a reset of sorts.

21. Arizona Cardinals – Look out for the Cardinals in 2020 – they added the best receiver in football in DeAndre Hopkins to go with Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk. They draft Isaiah Simmons to be a cornerstone piece on defense. Despite drafting one of my favorite prospects in the draft in Josh Jones, I still think there’s reason to be concerned about that offensive line protecting Kyler Murray.

22. Detroit Lions – I like the backfield that Matt Patricia has put together in Detroit, and I’ve always thought Matthew Stafford was one of the most underrated quarterbacks in the league. Despite drafting Jeff Okudah, there’s still some question marks surrounding that Lions secondary.

23. New York Jets – The Jets seemed to catch on late in 2019, but I don’t think they’ve added enough weaponry to score with the elite teams in the AFC in 2020.

24. Houston Texans – Does Bill O’Brien hate draft picks? I mean, we make fun of the guy and yet the Texans always seem to be in the hunt for the postseason. Somehow, they got worse and older at the receiver position. Let’s hope the offensive line steps up or else it’ll be a long year for Deshaun Watson.

25. Chicago Bears – I just hate the quarterback situation brewing up there in Chicago. If you’re hoping your defense can have another historic run like it did in 2018, you’re in bad shape.

26. New York Giants – Dare I say it? I think there’s a chance the Giants could actually be good in 2020. I like the additions they made on the offensive line in the draft, and they went and got the best safety in the class in Xavier McKinney. This is a team that should show signs of being on the rise this year.

27. Los Angeles Chargers – Long term, I love the Chargers. It’s a team that isn’t too far removed from a playoff run, and they lost a lot of close games last season. Ultimately, this one comes down to Tyrod Taylor being the bridge to Justin Herbert, and the AFC West being brutally competitive in 2020.

28. Carolina Panthers – It’s a full-on reset for the Panthers in an ultra competitive division that is only getting better. There are too many variables that are up in the air to expect Matt Rhule to come in an make this a playoff team right away. That said, I did love the defense-heavy draft they had in Carolina.

29. Miami Dolphins – The Dolphins had a hell of a draft and now have the foundation of a roster to really turn things around. However, I don’t think they do turn it around until Tua Tagovailoa is starting, and I don’t think that happens right away.

30. Cincinnati Bengals – I like Joe Burrow and the weapons around him to come in and make some plays in 2020. What I don’t like are the questions along the offensive line and at linebacker. I wouldn’t be shocked to see the Bengals surprise in 2020, but I’m not holding my breath.

31. Washington Redskins – I love the Chase Young pick, and I love the Antonio Gibson pick. But, this is still a team in transition in what I anticipate will be a competitive division. Ron Rivera gets a pass for his first year in DC.

32. Jacksonville Jaguars – Let’s just let the whole damn bottom fall out in Jacksonville – a sophomore slump for Gardner Minshew, a questionable locker room culture, and they draft a cornerback that has tackling issues in a division that has to play Derrick Henry twice a season. I’m here for the fallout.
