Today’s playlist shines light on the amazing female singers of the 1980s.
The decade saw some amazing artist of past decades continue to shine like Donna Summer, Aretha Franklin and Olivia Newton-John. The ‘Decade of Greed’ was also the birth place of the careers of some of the most influential women in music history. Madonna and Whitney Houston dominated the music charts for much of the decade.
Rock icons like Joan Jett, Pat Benatar and Ann and Nancy Wilson had a very successful decade. Bubblegum pop had a few princesses rule the land as well. Tiffany toured malls throughout the country behind “I Think We’re Alone Now” while Debbie Gibson came straight ‘out of the blue’ to top the pop charts.
Grab your Swatch watch and take a trip back in time with some of the ladies of the ‘80s.
